2 970's or 2 980's

Hi Peeps,

 

Just need some opinions here,

 

I currently have an i7 3770K working with my 2 Nvidia 670's in SLI running my ASUS Swift PG278Q Gaming monitor at 2k and they are starting to struggle with some of the higher end games.

 

Im torn between buying 2 970's or 2 980's

 

Do you think that the price difference justifies the extra horsepower from the 980's?

I think you would be better off with 970's, 980's are incredibly expensive compared to the performance that you gain.

980's aren't that much more powerful than 970's considering the pricing. Go with 970's.

If you can afford it get the 980s but you will get 80-90% of that performance with the 970s for half the cost

I would look at benchmarks to see how much you need to drive over 100 fps this 1440p display.

I think the 980 is kind of a failure, being barely better than the 780Ti a year later for such a high price. The 970 is great though, mostly because of price: I think it would have been a so-so deal at the $400 the 770 released at.
