My phone is deceased thanks to it being dropped from 7 stories in the air...

 

I had no insurance on it either, bought the phone outright on pay as you go, it was an absolute monster for taking images, 41MPX camera with Carl Zeiss optics... you really could drop your DSLR for it.

 

Anyway, i took a contract out and went for a lower end phone, the Samsung Galaxy S4 mini, if anyone can share user experience that would be great.

Galaxy S4 isin't that bad it's pretty much a Glaxay Note 4(which I have). The dum bloopy noises every time you touch somthing on your phone is cause by the sound options-

Press lower volume on the side press the whell thing then lower the slider al the way to 0 where it says "system"

Well i get unlimited text/mins and 1GB data for 27 per month and 6 pound a month for insurance, it's better than a kick in the teeth.

Please don't buy mini series in Samsung!

Their sub branding in the Galaxy series sucks!

It's mostly same processor around a particular price range. One with Larger display, less resolution. Another with smaller display, high resolution.

 

 

Sony Xperia Z3 compact looks good!

Best compact handset.

Looking at specs only,the S4 is a bit better than my 1020 was sans Ram and camera,the lower resolution screen is not really an issue for me.

My Lumia ran on Windows Phone 8.1, which is heavily locked down in terms of apps and stuff as you have to purchase through the MS store.

 

The S4 has a much better GPU too and the CPU is 200mhz faster.

 

The S4 has upgradable storage too.

 

I would only have to use the web for 4 hours and my phone would lose a full charge completely.

My sister's boyfriend has S4 mini... It' NOT bad, but for that price, it's one of the worst phones on the market... Any Mini device from any manufacturer (save for Sony and their compact lineup) is a fraud... They slap a flagship name + mini and sell it for outrageous prices...

Nope, i made it a point to never again recommend anything other than a Sony Z series... I got my M2 over Alcatel Idol X hoping for a 5.0 update, since it is a 2014 device, and it seems i won't be getting it... Got pretty furious and decided that if i'm on a limited budget when getting a new phone in 1.5 years (when my contract expires), i'm getting something similar to a Motorola or Android One, if they release decent devices in Europe :D

They offered me the E3 and M2, i took neither, if they offered me the Z2... i would have taken it but meh.

 

I have never used an android device before... i am Symbian and Windows savvy... so i can't wait to try out the S4 mini really.

Actually, you should've taken it... I know for a fact that S4 mini lags a little bit more than my M2, and he can't even update his phone to 4.4 since it's not out here... If you went for a mid range phone, you should've picked up either HTC or Sony :D Their UI is a lot more lighter than TW (which i don't like... I would make only an exception if i got a free Samsung phone and for Note 4 (that phone is so beautiful:D)).
