Is ASUS 5-way Optimization safe to use?

Meawa

I have a Motherboard that comes with ASUS 5-way optimization on it. (X99-A) Is it safe to use this auto OC tool? Also, can you revert it if you don't like it?

I seriously don't want to kill my i7-5820K.

They go a bit overkill on the voltage so I would not use it

Here you go (No MIR/Promo)

This is why you should not get an FX CPU for ANY scenario other than rendering on a budget http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/286142-fx-8350-r9-290-psu-requirements/?p=3892901 http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/266481-an-issue-with-people-bashing-the-fx-cpus/?p=3620861

I just ran mine and it put my G3258 at 4.6 Ghz with 1.37 volts. Thats high but it runs cool enough to leave it.

You can run it and see what it sets everything at, and if you dont like it you can set it back. its not going to harm anything

Try it out and test it. Then lower the voltage and test again. It can't hurt to use it as a starting point.

I tried it and it didn't run with my G3258 (Z97-K here with stock cpu cooler). I set it back to default so it's fine right now.

What were the temps like ? I heard the stock cooler is pure crap, and shouldn't be used when overclocking.

Well no relevance here at all, your comparing a 54w part to a 140w part, one with 2 cores the other with 6 & ht, there will be no way to compare like for like temps & overclocks

Intel Core i7 5820k @ 4.4Ghz, Asus Rampage V Extreme, 32Gb G.Skill Ripjaws 4 2400 DDR4,2 x Nvidia 980 Gtx Reference Cards in Sli,

Forgot about the G3258 being a Dual core and not a Quad core. Mind me, im just stupid xD.

You will be fine using it but you could get better results if you did it yourself

Longboarders/ skaters message me!

I think for the most part it's safe to use. I still don't recommend it.

I've still never actually owned a higher-end ASUS motherboard, I still want to someday.

Personly I over clocked my 5820k manually in the bios rather than use 5 way.

That way I get each item stable & I know exactly what the system is doing.

I know they are different boards but theory is generally the same

I tried OC'ing my 4770k using 5-way and it set core voltage to 1.202v but it was unstable and got blue screened. Set to default afterwards.
