I need a CPU to go with this rig.

Go to solution Solved by Polyvalent,

With a z97 board I'd get the unlocked version but thats just cause I just like to push everything to its limits :P

edit: might have a bit of a color clash with a red mobo and blue RAM, but with no windowed panel on your case I'd say you'll be fine

Do you think I made the right decision on a CPU for a price point of around $200-$250 to go with this build?

Or I would like to hear any other kind of comments you have about this build.

Here is the build.

Have you purchased any of the components yet ?

For the cpu I chose the i5 4690k, its a solid 4 core cpu that you could even overclock if you wanted to.

Also I threw an ssd in there for the os and some basic applications to improve overall system speed. The psu was a bit overkill for this system, so I went with a smaller, still high quality unit.

Finally, I changed the color of the ram to red to suit the motherboard.

I would go with something like this. If you have room in your budget then add an SSD. The Crucial MX100 256GB would be a good choice.

The 750w psu would allow for a 2nd 970. If you only plan on one card, then go with a 500/550W psu such as the XFX XTR 550W.

Case: Phanteks Enthoo Pro ATX Full Tower Case  ($99.99 @ Newegg)

How do you know what his budget is? and its not going to be the same price with a 980 since its much more expensive. Also MSI motherboards are always having problems i would take the Asrock any day.

Look at the link in the opening post. The build there is $1145.

Thats that. If you need to get in touch chances are you can find someone that knows me that can get in touch.

My budget is 1,200 base price for the PC itself. And i am going to buy a $200 monitor.

Also based on some of the knowledge that was bestowed upon me, here is the updated list.

BTW I am only purchasing Nvidia GPUs. This is mainly because of the perk of using Shadowplay, and I own an Nvidia Shield.

In my opinion, ASUS motherboards are the most stable.
