Gtx 970 fan thingy

Is the gtx 970 fan thingy that "only turns on after 50/60 degrees celsius" an automated thing that can't be turned off, or can you turn off it via programs like Afterburner?

And is there something more you can say about it or is it like an "open book".

To make it or more clear and/or write it again;

Can the thing that gtx 900 series have that only turn on the fan when it reaches a certain temperature be turned of or adjusted.

I dunno but I believe it can be adjusted... Like temp vs fan speed graph or something

You turn the thingy off.

What graphics card do you have?

And please the next time you post a question give us more details, cause then it saves time from having to ask you additional questions about your specs.

I actually couldn't underclock my 5 year old GPU to make it as slow as a next-gen console.

Uh...

The 0db feature, as it's called, is only present on Asus Strix, MSI Gaming 4G and I think on some/all EVGA versions. Not sure on this last part, though. You can also set a custom fan curve, and completely get rid of it. Albeit there really isn't much point in doing that, 60ºC is a very nice temp for a high end GPU.

Yes. It does matter. If you're not willing to give us some basic specs about your system, then I'm not willing to help you. It's quite simple.

Don't get me wrong - I'd like to help you but I can't if you're not cooperating.

I actually couldn't underclock my 5 year old GPU to make it as slow as a next-gen console.

Ok, thanks.

Yeah 60 degrees Celsius on ultra no fps cap sounds amazing compared to what I have.

My 280x no fps cap on Batman Arkham Origins max settings can read around 80 degrees celsius..

I do have 100% fan speed on 80 degrees though.

You don't see my question so you don't see what answer you could give me ..?

Try read it again then, or ask more specifically.

Why do you think it's about my specifications or something I own?

I wish to learn more about this feature.

I don't own the card and I won't be able to buy it for a while.

but I wish to know some more things about it since I plan on buying it some time in the future.

I am pretty sure you can click on my profile to see my computer specifications if you really want to.
