Best card under $200

fallout68
Go to solution Solved by Tim Drake,

How much better is the Ti than the regular? Is it worth the extra $50? The regular is $100.

http://amzn.com/B00IDG3LUO

Yes. The 750 ti is made from the new architecture that the gtx 970/980 is made from and saves you power and overclocks well.

Overall, I would say it's worth it but I wouldn't take my word for it.

I just need a card to complete my build upgrade, and have $200 left in my budget.

What's the best card under $200?

My build so far:

http://pcpartpicker.com/p/737DMp

That CPU will bottleneck alot of good cards that are under 200 and will perform amazing.

Without upgrading your psu, the best graphics card would be a 270: http://pcpartpicker.com/part/his-video-card-h270qm2g2m

On topic: Processor looks pretty outdated, never even seen that case before and that power supply isn't the best for a gaming graphics card.

Off Topic:

Any reason you went for 16GB of RAM for an i5 with a 970?

Australian or US?

Also, intended use?

USD, 95% will be gaming.

I can upgrade that too, I guess, as long as the cost will not exceed $210(which I doubt I that will happen). I already have this whole build, I just need to upgrade the graphics card from my old one.

It has nothing to do with performance really but it was mainly for looks :D 6hrVrBi.jpg

I mean the whole computer, or are you just adding a GPU?

Just replacing my current GPU. PSU too, if needed.

Ah ok, I would recommend a 750 ti depending on how much they are for you. Lemme check.

EDIT: Get this card or a 270

Well considering all my friends have been saying the exact same thing, I'll go with the Ti FTW(dem fans).

I have the Asus gtx 750ti, and I love it. It's quiet, cool and performs as expected of A 150 dollar card. My gtx 970 will be here Friday so the little engine that could is getting retired soon.

Rose's are red violets are blue, without computers I'd know not what to do.

Either keep it as spare or sell it and improve your parts more.

Building a rig for my brother, the new pentium is the cpu he decided on. I am really interested to see the comparisons in Arma as to my 4790k

The 750 Ti performs quite a bit worse than the 270..

For some perspective:

750 < 260x < 750 Ti < 660 < 265 < 270

if you can wait a month - you may find yourself with a different and probably better set of options and i suspect the advise will be significantly different than it is today

if it helps to understand what is happening remember that their is CES in less than 2 weeks and it can take companies a couple of weeks after that to get stick in the channel ready to buy

so if you can wait a month - BUT don't wait longer, as law of diminishing returns kicks in

but if you need it today - then the advise is how I would advise you

Basically, this is how you run Arma 3.

Put literally every settings to max besides FSAA and you can run it better than medium.

The engine doesn't put load on your GPU enough, puts it all on your cpu. Shouldn't be much of a difference if he maxes out his settings.

But the 750 ti saves him money to spend on other things. Besides, his processor isn't good enough for a 270 in my opinion.

No, it doesn't. The 270 is cheaper and better than the 750 Ti.
