I use a SAS academic bag for uni and normal bag needing scenarios

http://www.sasacademic.com/where_to_buy.htm

since linus did the review on the pelican backpack though i am considering on getting one of them as it will be alot more suited for field work.

As for backpacks I use a 85L blackwolf fully adjustable one with a detachable daypack - I think its called Sierra

Its all about those volumetric clouds

I have a Quicksilver backpack that has a pocket for a skateboard, which turns out to be perfect for storing a laptop, the laptop is suspended with a stretchy harness so the laptop does not get a stuck when you put the bag down, also it very thin for a snug fit.
