Difference Between Quadro, Tesla & GeForce

Hi Guys,

 

Could someone explain in detail the differences between nVidia's Quadro, Tesla and GeForce graphics cards. Like why are they used and in what scenarios would it be used, also why would you use a Quadro card in a Workstation and not for gaming etc... Sorry kind of a Noob and don't know that much about hardware.

GeForce is for consumers and Quadro and Tesla are for professional use. Quadro and Tesla is more reliable (makes less errors) than GeForce.

This doesn't translate to gaming well.

Quadros and teslas do better in certain aspects for gaming while doing far worse in other areas. Overall, they are bad for gaming simply because they are like the equivalent of a Titan with very seemingly random performance spikes (they aren't random, just seem to be), but cost $1000's. Very bad price-performance ratio.

GeForce is intended for gaming. Simple as that. Quadros and Teslas are intended for CUDA operations in 3D building programs (like, where you design 3D objects), or render video or something.

along time ago u could hack a Geforce card to a quadro card

the difference is the unlocked double-precision floating-point performance giving 1/2 of peak single-precision floating point performance in Tesla cards compared to 1/8 for GeForce cards. Additionally, the Tesla cards have ECC-protected memory and are available in models with higher on-board memory

Also tesla cards dont have any out put ports its not meant to display anything

just heavy computation

Oh ok thank you for the detailed answer. I posted on this forum because I felt that since I could directly interact with the commentators, I would have a better understanding of the differences and that if I had any doubt regarding anything I did not understand I could directly interact with that person and clarify it.
