Friend has H100i & Z97 but refuses to overclock?

My friend has an i7 4770k with an H100i and I have said multiple times that if he is too scared to do it, that I would do a casual overclock (I said 4.2ghz or 4.4ghz) but he refuses.

Quote:

"I don't want to overclock unless I need to"

I have tried to explain to him that you almost NEED to with a H100i but he just refuses.

Help me :(

If he doesn't want to overclock don't push him because that's just being a bad friend. And you don't need to do any over clock to own a H100i, some people have AIO's on stock clocked CPU's for looks and less noise.

no point in oc-ing now... just do it once it starts struggling to keep up with current games.

He didn't build the computer, he just threw £1200 at some guy who knew about computers and asked him to build one. He did ZERO research. I showed him a better build for his money but he is arogant. He always wants to win.

Nobody buys a H100i for stock (not that I know of anyway), that's what H55 and H80i and Seidon 120vs are for.

I know alot of people that have H105's, H110's H100i's just for stock clocked CPU's because it looks nicer and runs quieter for them. I know that was my original thought with the Sideon 120V but the fan was way to loud for my taste even with a small overclock, so I went air cooling and my system is even quieter. Its all based on someones wants and needs. It would be one thing if he wanted it, but didn't need it. But he doesn't need or want it so let him be.

Ask him why he wanted the H100i then.

If he had the money, why not...although I'm simply amazed how many people like your friend exist...i am active on forums in my country and there are always people who ask for PCs and say that "money is not a problem". That's why I recommend them Titan Zs. :D

I think anyone who spends an extra £80 just for silence, needs priorities. But that's just my opinion :P

Eh not really, you don't want a system next to you that has fans screaming and running your gaming eexperience Hell I was almost willing to spend a extra $1500 on getting my system watercooled under stock clocks to have it near silent, but its already quite silent as it is.

Got an idea...Ask him to swap your coolers...I see you have a CM 212 EVO.

Tell him since you OC you'd need a better cooler. ;)

He would never do that. He can be a dick 80% of the time so I extremely doubt he would. He always has to be better than everyone, he barely even plays his PC. It disgusts me.

well overclocking doesnt gonne make a world breaking diffrence wenn it comes to intel haswell

so yeah i do see the reason why he wont bother to do it.

You could overclock the 4770k to 4.4GHz and maybe gain 5fps if you are lucky... meh

1. This was hard to read, no offence

2. It's not the FPS that people overclock for, it's the performance you get out of it in general such as rendering and such.

your friend has no desire to overclock. you on the other hand have buckets of desire to OC that unlocked chip. Im sure you cant wait to see what that DC chip will do on an h100i. Im the same way.

be a good friend and explain the benefits but dont push him. respect his decision .

at least at the end of the day if he decides never to OC that bad boy he will have higher resale value when he goes to sell the parts.
