Welcome to the club.

i got my pc less than a year ago and i'm going to get 3 970's and a 4k monitor now.

Because it seems my 280x isn't enough to fill my ego.

That's a massive ego.

That's how I was. But what for me to stop was thinking that all I do is spend money on pcs, not having fun (building pcs are extremely fun don't get me wrong), but I wasn't playing games because no money even though my pc is a gaming pc.

Yes, I could see me doing that so easy!

I also feel a little addicted but in a weird way. I always tend to find new performance upgrades and go for stupid stuff like trying to watercool my cards but the thing is trying to safe money and then overclock it but i should rather buy a new graphics card. I'm on 2560x1440 @ 96hz and I'm not getting my fps that i need in most games on high to ultra settings. So in my case best thing is to upgrade gpu's but again I always want better so i went from 1080p 60hz to 2560x1440p 96hz and sort of regret it. don't get me wrong I like the higher rez and hz but I was used to 60hz and it felt smooth for me but now not smooth. my gtx 570 sli was just fine at that time for that rez and if I haven't bought this monitor everything would've been so much better cause I have some minor issues now. Another situation was my gpu's cause it doesn't work well together with my monitor. I upgraded to r9 280x crossfire cause I though ok they freaking good and will help me get my 96fps at least but no i'm not getting all that fps. I wanted to get the gtx 780 and another later but yeah decided to go with this stupid r9 280x crossfire and now feel sort of guilty buying it and don't want to sell. I just keep telling me now don't need upgrade or if I get lower than 96fps just say what the heck just lower graphics settings. Might look like shit but hell will upgrade one day to something that makes sense.

The point is also try not to save money to much and just buy the right thing even if it costs more. I've learned from my mistakes and will try my best not to fall for the same trap.

Hi.

My name is Blecter.

I'm addicted to PC hardware.

True story. It's all fine and dandy to upgrade in moderation however. Especially if there's a certain point you want your system to be at. I know when I built my system last Christmas I under built it for what I actually wanted (realized what I actually wanted after using it a month). Went from a single GPU setup to SLI in less than a month, then added a second 250GB SSD and a second 8GB of RAM shortly thereafter. I should have spent more money initially to be honest. Oh well, I learned!

Now excuse me while I go order me a new laptop... ;)

Never say it's not broken. Everything is broken. Why? Because everything needs MOAR POWA!

It's nice to see you are beginning to also understand why we are on pc. Actual gaming is just part of the fun of being a pc enthusiast. Congrats and just be aware of your spendings ;)

The addiction is real. I had to look a little longer in the mirror the other day, after I had just told my friend I was only able to afford a GTX 970...

"Normandy" i7 4790K - GTX 970 - Phantom 410 (Gun metal) - Z97 Extreme4 (asrock) - 128GB Crucial SSD - 1TB WD HDD - H60 Refurb. - 7 case fans | G710+ Keyboard, G230 Headset, Acer GN246HL Monitor.

Quick thoughts on system: I7 is extremely quick and I'm glad I spent the extra for hyper-threading. I regret my decision to get the GTX 970, it has horrible coil whine. There isn't any excuse for this terrible whine I and others are having. I HIGHLY recommend a 144hz monitor. Future Improvements/upgrades: Rubber fan mounts, basic speakers, more ram (for a total of 16gb), replace GPU.

144hz is love. 144hz is life. I like to submit unfinished posts then do about 20 edits. I like the Night Theme too.
