What about 750 Ti's?

I haven't had a chance to do it with 750ti's should work though.

Hello Lays, Just a noob question and a request about this thread, could you also post a video if ever on how to bring back the original bios settings? Sorry I'm not that of a professional user.. I just had my g1 gaming gtx 970, I want to try this no fan mode but I'm worried because my card is new and it is still under shop warranty and I want to play safe of not messing it up by flashing and if by chance the card didn't survive within the warranty period, atleast I could flash the original bios again and have it RMA.. Honestly I just like to lower the speed of its fans to atleast 15 to 20 percent because for me, running at 34 percent is not healthy, Fans might die very soon, so maybe trying out this thread if it will work.. And if theres any chance you could make a video "hands on" that would be better because I am also scared of the disabling my card.. Ive tried that and my screen got off and don't know what to do.. Thanks :)

Also, when should I disable my 970? before or after flashing or before opening GPUZ and tweak? I'm totally naive of the process.. sorry.. I've watched your video and you said disabling 970 would be before flashing and that is after I saved my orig bios settings right?

Disable it before flashing,

Running the fans at higher % does not hurt anything, and running them at 15% could actually be worse because they may not be getting the proper voltage/current it should be.

This is why I recommend them either being off, or at 34-100%.

I can help more tomorrow, but the only thing you have to do to restore the card is flash back the original bios the same way you flashed the modified bios.

@ Lays.. Thanks man, Hopefully you could post some videos of the hands - on process while flashing to 0 db and flashing by putting back the original bios settings for noobs like me :) It would definitely be a big help man.. I tried disabling my 970 but my monitor turns off, should I connect my dvi cable to my motherboard to see process and continue to flash? Also, about the 0db and 34 - 100 %, so it is not advisable for me to just lower my fan speed instead make it to 0db?

Thanks again man! really appreciate it!.. Hoping that Gigabyte would also provide an update for their giga 970 version to adjust fan speed in the future..

hey, so I've managed to do this even tho I was scared as hell

everything works fine, I just got one question - if it's working now is there any chance that it might just refuse to boot properly (black screen or so) in future? might this be anyhow harmful to the card in the long run?

Didn't work for msi970oc

What didn't work? the fan controller parameters or the boost/voltage one?

In the first case your card should already stop its fan by default, all the twin frozr V do it.

got it :D

trust me i re ran it more than one hundred times and tried to download MBT again without a ny difference

what helped was actually not updating to the newest version, but downgrading gpu-z from 0.8.2 to 0.8

i´ve always been searching for a problem in MBT, but the Dickhead was gpu-z :P

but anyway thanks for the answer  :D  :D

I can't imagine there'd be any issues in the future, as Nvidia never would of had cards doing this in the first place.

Nvidia is VERY strict when it comes to things like this, so the fact that they let Asus and other companies do this reassures me that it's alright.

is this max fan tachometer read normal? (810811)

14d882a096899077f87ef45e2148efc5.png

I notice that it shows up sometimes, not even at full load or so. It's not like the fans just go ultra-high RPM, just the max value shows these weird numbers :D
I've read somewhere else that gigabyte cards tend to show crap like that but I'm still bit concerned.

Do you have AUTO fan mode & User Define enabled?

As of writing this review, GPU-Z tells me my fan speed is 3%, not 0%, strangely enough.
Since I've turned on my computer, i have not opened MSI Afterburner. After opening it, it drops my fan down to the expected 0%.
So it's not following the fan curve I've given it (I've more or less copied yours). I don't even know where this new fan curve is comming from.
Even if they are (pretty much) silent at 0%, i'd like it if it would be possible to have it follow my fan curve (without having to open afterburner everytime) so that my GPU remains perfectly silent until it reaches (more or less)60°C (or 140°F for the imperial unit barbarians out there). I also know that such low RPM could be bad for the fans.
Thanks for your help.

For it to work, you need to have afterburner open / minimized in the task bar, because your fan curve in MSI afterburner is what you should be using, not the hardware fan curve in the BIOS.

The only way to make it work without afterburner would be to completely edit every value in the fan control section of the BIOS to exactly match the desired fan curve.

Is there a way to get MSI Afterburner to automatically minimize to the system tray when starting up? It might just be me but I find it a bit annoying to open and minimize the application everytime I startup my computer.

Thanks again for your continued help.

For me it also didn't work on my Gigabyte GTX 980 G1. I thought, if they put the same cooler on the card (as the one you tried), they would both have the ability to shut down. But my fans are spinning at ~550RPM whereas the percentage is displayed as 0% (in both MSI AB and HWMonitor). Actually, the RPM will just go up if I go about 15%. I used CPU-Z to verify the changes made in MBT and they were all present. In your tutorial you didn't change the "PER11" value. Do you think turning this down to 0 as well will help? I don't want to try over and over again because I could barely get myself to flashing the bios once, being kind of paranoid about bricking this expensive card.

I can confirm this. Doesn't work with my GTX 980 G1 either, hovers on around 600-700RPM while displaying 0% fan speed. All three values in Maxwell BIOS Tweaker were set to 0 as explained in the tutorial.

Update: Changing PER11 does not help either.

Pity, would have been happy if it worked, but I can live without.
