ok, in that case get the gigabyte 970A-UD3p unless you plan using dual graphics cards in which case get the ASUS 990FX motherboard.

and btw i never felt a performance limit on my game play with a FX cpu but idk

i have a friend who had the same set up as me except he had intel and i felt mine FX was giving me alot more performance

because you are use too it. Look at your GPU load when you get everything up and running again if it isn't 90%+ load it's wasting power. If you ever get an i5 you will notice.

no the ASUS 990FX is better but it also cost significantly more...the 970 from asrock is an 8+2 motherboard and it's designed to support the FX-9590 which is an highly overclocked FX chip...it came out only about a month ago but it has upgraded audio chips as well and IMHO it just looks better and since both support SLI and are somewhat overkill i'd save the 30 or 40$ (your board is still 140$ plus shipping...the price looks nice but it's because of the 15$ MIR which is a PAIN IN THE ASS to perform with an Asus product.) where as the asrock board is only 100$ and ship for free...

The asrock even support M.2 on AM3+ platform that's telling you how much they've spent on this motherboard...the old ASus board won't have that.

Or the msi 970 gaming is good also

havnt seen it cheap in a while..but yes.

The Asrock 970 is only stocked at newegg right now and it won,t last at this price very long i'm sure...it's a hell of a deal.

yes

Asrock has put out the 970 performance to compete with this motherboard...i'd rather have the MSI board for the good and reliable customer services from MSI.

This is also a relatively new motherboard but it's a good one as well, i vote you go for it.

gigabyte 990FXA-UD3 or ASUS M5A99FX PRO R2.0...both are slightly superior.

Having two of the Asus boards personally, and knowing people who have used the UD5, I can safely say that the Asus board is significantly better overall.  Fan tuning is awesome, making your motherboard fan headers relevant, the BIOS is far easier to navigate and tune with (with far less "Engrish"), and the platform in general is more robust/stable in that there seems to be far fewer failures on the Asus board than on the Gigabyte board.  I can ALSO tell you from personal experience that with the Asus board if anything is going to fail on it, it's gonna be the south bridge: both my Sabertooth 990FX R2.0 and my M5A99FX R2.0 had issues with the south bridge going out in the exact same way, but ever since my RMA's the boards have run smooth and stable.

anything cheaper that's handles it a bit better considering temps and the volt

http://pcpartpicker.com/part/asus-motherboard-m5a99fxpror20

IMO this is the cheapest Asus board which uses 990FX
