So I replied to this post and then realized that my post counter didn't move, neither did the other person's, I thought off-topic was the only place where posts don't count, or did I just find a bug in ip.board???

It's not a competition to see how many posts you can get... If that's what you think, then you need to leave.

It makes you look "higher in authority" there is just something about seeing someone with tons of posts, people would also naturally take replies from people with more posts with less or no grains of salt, I'm not saying they will take it like that all the time.

My intent is not to race to the highest posts

I agree to an extent. It's nice to have a lot of posts, you seem to get respected more. <1000 posts I find that sometimes people are ignored. That's what I find anyway
