SPECS:  Intel Xeon 1230v3

               AMD HD 7850

               Samsung 840 EVO

 

 

I just upgraded from an Intel I3 4130 and plan to upgrade to a 970 in the near future.

I will definitely see a major performance increase when I get the 970 since I really just game on my PC.

But until then what things will I see a performance increase in? 

Right now I feel like my PC is one of those Alienware PCs with super high end CPUs and mid range GPUs...

The 970 will definitely help though.

 

Also, did I make a good upgrade decision?

First of all 60 fps sucks 144 fps ftw.

I would say no, you would have been batter off with a i7 and a better gpu

Buying an i7 would have been more expensive so he would have had a worse GPU.

I would say if your uses need the extra cores, it wasn't a bad decision. Otherwise an i5 would have been better.

You would've been better off upgrading your graphics card instead of the cpu if your goal was to game. The 4130 is already a very capable cpu.
