I'm about to buy the parts for my new pc, however I'm wondering if I should wait for the gtx 980ti to come out. The 980 is what I'm planning on getting now, but should I wait or just get the 980. Thanks for your help

What is your budget and the monitor res you will be gaming on?

Why do you need a 980? Sre you doing 4k gaming?

Also there is no 980ti in existence. Saying there will be is like saying youre going to win the lottery.

I'm treading so lightly here but what makes you assume he's wrong for his brilliant observation that there will be a 980 Ti just as there was a 780 and then... a 780 TI would you look at that?!

Honestly I hope you're not missing brain cells so rapidly that you didn't know NVidia releases a ti version of there card. The same way AMD has brilliantly released an 'X' version aside from the regular "stuff". Oh you know, just paying a patronizing comment with another joyfully awesome and sarcastic one.

-Cheers!

Because the 700 series was the first time nvidia has ever released a flagship ti version of a GPU. Never before have they done that. The ti branding was reserved for lower end models such as the 550ti, or 560ti, just like every generation before.

Also its very unlikely that nvidia is going to change their entire product naming scheme just to add another card to the line. The GPUs they are planning to release are going to be workstation cards or titans, no gaming GPUs.

Maybe you didnt have enough brain cells to realize that the 780ti was a one-time thing?

Buy the one that exists right now there will always be a better card coming for you to wait on. The 980 is a great card and I personally bought 2 of them for sli and if in 4-5 months a new fancy 990 or ti comes out meh. It's not like when the 980ti or 990 w/e were to come out it is going to make the 980 not a good card anymore.

I am the one who goes bump in the night... usually making a sandwich.

All of you guys are missing the actual question. Whether he should get a 980 or wait for a newer high end model. And to answer your question a 980 will be perfect for 3 1080p monitors

exactly.

i personally reccomend two way 970, as it will kick single 980's ass, and when sli doesnt always work you're only losing about 10/15% preformance.

but yeah.

I plan on using 3 1080p monitors and I don't want to spend much more than $750

IMO wait for the next gen of gpus the 290x and 980 may be great for three monitor gaming . It may not sustaine ultra at 60fps. The 390x may be a game changer.
