Why can't super computers run games?

i think they can, but no one does because it would be waste of power

Linus just uploaded a tech quickie and said they cannot, so that's why I came here

(SC) Super computers have the same limitations we do. Software - but lets asy.. for example THEY are using Windows 8.1 as well as us....

Still comes down to the Threading capabilities of Software...

Tidbit added - Ubisoft titles using ONLY Core3 @ 100% (which we've seen) would be such a waste on a SC :(

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz

and exactly after that he says why, but as a tldw, is because they run custom OS'es and because games themselves wouldn't benefit at all from it

this is one of the greatest thing that has happened to me recently, and it happened on this forum, those involved have my eternal gratitude http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/198850-update-alex-got-his-moto-g2-lets-get-a-moto-g-for-alexgoeshigh-unofficial/ :')

A game built for a supercomputer would benefit from it. But chances are that would be the only computer in the world that could run it. Not the best business model.

But yeah, it could run a game, if you bothered to build a game for a supercomputer. But nobody does.
