BTW, after my horrible experience with windows 8.. I haven't even looked into 8.1.. Do you guys like it?  Or the majority?  Is it back to the basic build of 7?

PSU is a bit overkill. Get a 650W and you should be able to squeeze in a SSD for the same price. Windows 8.1 is surprisingly not bad (or at least not the bugfest of a mess Windows 8 was), especially with 3rd-party windows menus. Windows fixed a lot of the problems (note I didn't say they removed ALL of them). If you still like Windows 7, go for it; no problem.

My build: tis be ordered

PSU is already installed.. Buying it from someone that needs cash for emergency.  It's already built.. I will be using paypal and specify every part and detail in an invoice and allow myself 180 days of no malfunctions.. If he tries anything shady I will win the dispute.

Overkill on the PSU, is this a bad thing?

Oh no, I just meant if you didn't buy it already you don't have to buy a 850W PSU. When has overkill been bad in a PC build though :P It'll do perfectly fine.

So, got the paypal invoice today... 725$ for everything, including shipping + the original boxes for all the parts...

Excited!  Looks like I saved 300-400$ if I had built it myself.

Ofc, more questions.

So, my most recent workstation got @#$%, hard.  My pyromaniac roommate caught something on fire and I got massive soot everywhere inside.  I didn't notice that night and continued to play.. next day motherboard lights are on but the cpu won't power on.  No sounds, nothing at all.  I think it's my graphics card / monitor hook up.. check that... Now the mobo lights are off and same problem, won't start, won't even give me a sound.

Next day I rented a computer (one I am using now) to keep me going until I figured out what to do.  Anyways, I posted on the Troubleshooting forums and was informed that soot can cause problems with electricity and to take compressed air and microfiber and clean it out.

I spent at least 3 hours today cleaning the hell out of this case, mobo, cords, etc... i swear, it looks newer than new..  Later, a friend tells me microfiber can cause a static charge and possibly destroy my parts..  (Oh, #$%^ you gotta be kidding me)

It still won't start.  For a BRIEF second I saw a blue mobo light come on but quickly shut off.  I could provide pics if anyone wanted to see.  Anyways, I have a GEFORCE GTX 550 TI in there, 8 Gig (x2 4) DDR3, which I was hoping were still salvageable for my new P.C.  Throw in my 8gigs and have 16 gig ddr 3.. Then I've heard of people using older graphics cards for Phys X and the like.  I am not certain the benefits to this but wanted to research it more and it it benefited me was hoping to use the 550 ti for Phys X and whatever else i could.

TL:DR  Will I risky my new workstation by trying these parts in it to see if they still work?
