Hey guys,

I'm confused about what motherboard to get, I was thinking to get the Asus Maximum vi Hero but I heard about the "Extreme" version? Which one is better? If Extreme is better, would it run on i7 4770K Haswell?

Btw, I will be using GTX 780 SC (EVGA) < Additional Info

What extreme activities are you doing that you need the extreme edition? :)

That board is for hardcore overclocking.  If you're just in it for the red and black color scheme and the RoG  branding, go with the Hero, motherboards don't affect performance.  If you don't know what the extreme edition has, you don't need it.

Well, I've seen linus in many videos using the Extreme one, and that's why I asked about the difference! I will be mainly using my computer for gaming, Maybe 5 or 6 games (Mainly Call of Duty Games). Overmore, I want it to last long for me, I don't really want to face any problems etc etc. Will Hero edition be very enough for me? or the Extreme last longer than the Hero?

Other opinions would be appreciated.

They will last the same amount of time.  Other parts of the computer will give out long before the motherboard does.  If you're just gaming, there's no reason to get an expensive motherboard like that anyway, like I said it doesn't affect performance, they are just pricey because of the overclocking features.  Something like the Gigabyte GA-Z87X-UD3H or the MSI Z87-G45 Gaming would do fine.

If you don't need the extra overclocking performance, voltage monitors, then get the Hero, if you don't need such high end motherboards, then look into some other Z87 models from Asus, MSI or Gigabyte.

Save your money and get the Hero. If you don't know why you would need the extreme then you probably don't need one. Unless you have the extra cash and don't mind blowing it to be the coolest kidding the block. :)
