860k or 7700k

I'm asking for a friend of mine who wants to upgrade. Is the 7700k any more powerful at all or does it just cost a lot more because its an apu? I'm assuming the obvious choice is the 860k, but I just wanna make sure.

860k CPU = 7700k APU but without the integrated GPU .. so as long as he is going to get dedicated GPU the 860k is better option as it is cheaper and feature same CPU perofmance.

the 860K with a R7 260X or R7 265 or R9 270X will beat the A10-7700K by a lot in 1080P gaming
