Having some trouble choosing memory

I'm building a new rig next week, and I'm having some trouble choosing the memory. These are my main components:

Asus Maximus VI Extreme

Intel i7 4770k

2x EVGA ACX 780 3GB

Corsair AX1200i

Now, I was planning on getting the "Corsair Dominator DDR3 2400MHz 16GB", but then I saw the "Corsair Vengeance Pro DDR3 2400MHz 16GB". This made me kinda confused because the price point was so different. And I have heard that the vengeance series is made for the haswell series.

I honestly don't know which to pick, but I want the best for my rig. Can anyone helpe with this? :)

The Dominator Platinum memory has LED 'light bars' on the heatsinks which glow when your computer is on. Other than that, they're not any better than the Vengeance Pros. Either kit will work fine with Haswell.

 

Having said that, are you sure that you need 16GB of 2400MHz memory? What are you going to be using the rig for?

any of them will be great, afaik the main difference is aesthetics otherwise it's pretty much the same thing, the platinums are probably the most expensive, they are more premium with the metal bar on top and everything but i think the actual memory is the same on both

What are you planning on doing with your rig? Corsair vengeance 16gb of 1600MHz is more than enough for most people. The extra RAM speed does not warrant the extra cost unless your running an APU. If you still want the look, you can get Corsair Dominator Platinums in 1600MHz.

Well what I have heard is that with faster memory, you'll get 5 - 10 more fps in games and such. I know it's not that much, compared to what this thing allready gives out.

So I should get the vengeance ones? I don't care about fancy lights and stuff. I just want pure performance :)

If you're running SLI 780s I doubt you will need to pay premium price for 2400MHz RAM to get 5-10 FPS more. Vengance Pro are great if you're not into the looks of the Dominators so that's a good choice. I would go for 1600MHz RAM and save some money also.

The difference between 1600 and 2400 memory is unnoticeable in anything but heavy rendering.

In gaming, it'll make very little difference.

 

Get the cheapest CL9 1600/1866 memory you can find. The performance is basically the same.
