If you're on Windows 7 it's possible Microsoft's latest update broke the omega drives - but I've seen a few people complain about it. Meanwhile I'm loving my latest nvidia driver :)

c25934b035.jpgI honestly had this problem as well, artifacts after the Omega drivers. I just downloaded MSI AB and get +20 on the power setting and the artifacts went away. I didn't do anything else, the cards just need more juice, weird as hell, but it fixes it for most people, lol.

Didn't happen to me either. All my friends have no problem whatsoever with the omega driver. Hell, they even said it is the most stable driver AMD has ever released yet

I'm also having issues with artefacts across my Eyefinity configuration that were not there in previous versions. Furthermore Hydravision is completely incompatible with this release it seems. On the whole an absolute disappointment - disappointment is somewhat expected as the de facto standard from AMD but this recent experience goes below and beyond their usual poor standard I'm sad to say.

The single biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place.

Having no issues on my R9 290.  I use Gedosato for Dark Souls 2 and run it at 5k...

As others said MS screwed the pooch on a 7 update. I had no issues because I turned off Windows update a long time ago. I don't use their crappy browser, I don't use their crappy antivirus program. I have no need to get their dumb updates and I expected this kind of crap to force people on Win 8. MS never lets me down....

The same problem would have occurred if Nvidia released drivers the same day.

Are not these BETA drivers?

Nope. Omega was the latest stable set that just came out a few days ago. Apparently one of the largest updates AMD has done in quite some time.

I'm running them on Windows 7 with my 7950 without any problems. But I haven't played any games on it.

I have a few flickering issues but I'm thinking it might be one of my cards... I'm running 7950's in crossfire and I was having A LOT more issues with drivers before the omega... so it's definitely better now with the omega drivers.

Next round I will no doubt pick up Nvidia cards

Honestly I was a HUGE Geforce fanboy originally when They started rolling out the 1GB DD2 cards way back when haha and always hated AMD but couple years back nvidia's ran HOT and required shit ton of power to run their cards I decided to give radeon a go and they were great... low power consumption and ran cooler than the nvidia's at the time....

but now Nvidia got the upper hand with the 780's, 970 & 980s! Great prices too I must say!

  • 5 weeks later...

The last Nvidia card I had popped a cap or 4. That was a 9600 series card. Now I have 2 290X cards under liquid and life is good.
