So I'm happy with my 8350 but I'm bored again, I wanna build another PC since I sold my sons pentium and I'm thinking a 4690k but the MSI board I currently have has some annoying issues.

Can anyone suggest a good board that also has good software.

Edit: that's not MSI

Gigabyte Z97X-Gaming 5. It is pretty damn nice. Just be sure that you have the F5 BIOS. The @BIOS utility for Windows makes it super freaking easy to update the BIOS.

I'd have no qualms recommending an ASUS Z97-A, given that the experience should be pretty similar to my Z97I-Plus.

Yeah I've had issues with older gigabyte boards but I always remember bios updates where easy, like 1 click easy.

Asrock bios is pretty neat these days with similar features as tmcclelland455 said. ( And i never had any issues with MSI software.)

To be fair, its the board as well, things like custom fan curves going back to default or any random profile it wants after POST, 100% fan speed is actually 75% and it cuts my CPU fan speed to 25% once W8 is loaded.

And that's before I've even started up the software. Load at startup doesn't work, so I have to manually load up the software, change profiles, close it down every time.

I know its nit picking but its just enough to piss me off, a bios update can fix it but the same bios update has roughly a 50/50 chance of bricking it.

Z97-A or Z97-AR if what you are after are good software that's the place to go i think...those i think support SLI you might want to look at cheaper ASUS Z97 boards as well they usualy have all the same sets of sotwares.

Sounds odd as hell, my krait mobo is one of the most stable OC'ing one i've had yet and the cpu header ( the only fan that not runs off a molex 3pin adapter ) is behaving normally, sounds like a real pain in the bum if it keeps doing that.

If they fixed it I'd buy another in a shot but it's putting me off MSI slowly

Hoooah for MSI :)

Yeah it refused to restart at one point so left it for an hour before I manually reset it, I thought it had bricked itself, wouldn't start but turns out you just need to keep hitting that reset button with faith :P
