Temporarily I recommend malwarebytes. imo

for virus removal, malwarebytes all the way. but if you want real time protection you have to buy a license (theres still some cheap lifetime licenses on ebay and g2a OP)

Avast used to be good its gone to shit imo to many false positives i cant even use an alternative browser like waterfox etc.. without it come up as a virus or malware.

Right now i just use Windows Defender with Malwarebytes. Browser i use is waterfox with adblock plus and common sense and i have never got a virus on pc once. Just dont go to sites you dont know or trust its pretty simple.

I just download malwarebytes trial when I need to do a scan.

Common sense usually stops you from getting viruses so you don't really need one installed 24/7

Windows Defender is really a good one. Others will be consuming much resources.
