Amd gaming rig

Flyguygamer

Hi all,

A client want's a part list for a pc he will build. Watercooling is a must but has to be an AIO including the gpu's. The idea is 3x 1080p gaming. Aesthetics are the main priority and where a lot of the budget went. Red and black theme as you guessed with AMD. Budget is sorta loose but not over $4000 if avoidable. I have the core hardware as an 8370 and dual 290X. 480gb ssd is fine as he has a 4tb hdd at home and a 5.25 bay adapter for it and the ssd. The drive cages will be removed to make room for the 2 radiators for the gpu's. Sleeved extensions are required because he wants something easy to build but that looks good. I will be helping with the build and cable management over skype. I was wondering what you would change in this. Live in the United States and can buy from anywhere. Windows is not needed but the 3 monitors, an mx red kb and a mouse and mouse pad are needed. The monitors can't be changed. Thanks for the help, Jake.

That CPU wlll bottleneck those 290x's (I know from personal experience) Jump to an I5-4790(K) it shouldn't cost you anymore and wont be a bottleneck.

He hates intel and nvidia, amd is a must for him. (Not my choice, I would do the i5 and 2 980's)

That will be a massive bottleneck. And you don't plan on cooking the 290x's right? I mean if you put those fans on a radiator, you will cook them.

i'd get the crosshair v formula-z, an ax860 with red cable kit, the h440 in red/black, sp120s and NOT wireless.

I know, I hate wifi. He refuses to run cat 5.

If it was my build I would do things VERY differently.

Thanks for the other tips, any more?

what about homeplugs?

I would advise on not getting the 9590. It runs very hot. You also need a very good board to run it due to the high TDP.

Also your Client is being stupid by avoiding Intel/Nvidia.

I know, I would do 4790k, and 2 or 3 980's

snip!

are you serious? how in earth can people still think that those 4 years old cpu's could be paired with dual high-end extra powerfull GPU's and have great performance is beyond me...it's not fanboyism at this point it's just being realistic come on...are you really building a 3K$+ gaming rig around an AM3+ motherboard and the ol FX man?! seriously...

http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/amd-fx-8370e-cpu,3929-7.html

To put it nicely, the FX-8370 is a true middle-of-the-road CPU. Using it only makes sense as long as the graphics card you choose comes from a similar performance segment.

Depending on the game in question, AMD’s new processor has the potential to keep you happy around the AMD Radeon R9 270X/285 or Nvidia GeForce GTX 760 or 660 Ti level.

A higher- or even high-end graphics card doesn’t make sense, as pairing it with AMD's FX-8370 simply limits the card's potential.

| CPU: Core i7-8700K @ 4.89ghz - 1.21v  Motherboard: Asus ROG STRIX Z370-E GAMING  CPU Cooler: Corsair H100i V2 |
| GPU: MSI RTX 3080Ti Ventus 3X OC  RAM: 32GB T-Force Delta RGB 3066mhz |

I hate it but it is his money. I would go for a 4790k and 2 280's

He is the boss at this point.

even if your client is the boss

you need to give informed choices on picking the AMD CPU

9590 is def not the way to go

FX8370 will be much better choice if he still want to stick to his AMD CPU choice

and avoid XFX GPUs as much as Asus AMD GPU because of the horrible RMA and poor QC and the horrible cooler for the 290/X

dont need another soundcard

and opt for the Intel Wifi AC PCI-E card

Budget? Uses? Currency? Location? Operating System? Peripherals? Monitor? Use PCPartPicker wherever possible.

I have recommended, he doesn't care, I am about to pass on this because I know he is not getting a good value and a good system. He wanted AIO water coolers for the gpu's so reference cards are needed.

Sapphire Tri-X or PowerColor PCS+ or Gigabyte Windforce or MSI Twin Forza uses reference cards but they slap on they own aftermarket cooler

The build looks great, but restricting yourself to AMD is really a silly move. If it were my build, I'd personally keep the GPUs, but get a 4690k/4790k.

Two 290x's I can understand - they're quite a lot cheaper, and still do very well at 4k. But the CPU I cannot. But hey, not my problem, not yours.

Guys the OP knows about intel being better but it is his client. If the client doesnt wanna listen and is an absolute morron well let him cut his own fingers. If the guy asking here is getting paid for it then lets help him to earn some money. For the rest I can not really help but the same awnser of intel being a better choice was getting annoying.

This.

I try to help as best I can but when someone else tells my my requirements I have no choice. I think he is a total moron and wasting his money. I was asking for advice on what I can do to make it better while still meeting his requirements I laid out in the first post.

To all that have helped and tried to help, thank you.

This is what I would personally do to still fulfill his red/black theme, triple monitor, kb and mouse that are red and mx red switches, and sleeved cables.
