Nzxt s340 or Fractal Design Define R5?

grimmjow660

R5, I wouldn't use more than a single 120 or 140 AiO in the S340.

What case has better airflow? A Corsair h105 will go in either

They're at two different price points. The S340 was more meant as a "budget" case, so if you can afford it, of course R5.

Desktop: Intel Core i5 2380P (2400 w/o iGPU), MSI H61, 8GB RAM, 256GB SP610, 500GB WD Blue, HIS R9 280, Antec TruePower Classic 550W, Inwin MANA 134, QNIX QX2710, CM QuickFire Rapid, Logitech G402

Laptop: Toshiba Satellite L40D, AMD A6-6310, 6GB RAM, 500GB HDD, Radeon R4 Graphics, 14" 1366x768

Phone: iPhone 6 Space Gray 64GB, T-Mobile $60/mo 3GB plan

R5 FTW!!

The s340 has much better airflow due to the placement of the fans.

How so?

The Define R5 has drive cages that obstruct the front fans and has more dead zone for the fans. even with the cages removed, where the cages were become more dead zone.

The s340 doesn't really have this issue. I haven't looked much into the new case fans for the Define R5 but the stock case fans of the s340 also perform better than those of the R4.

S340 has slightly better air flow and its significantly lighter and smaller and cheaper. I was able to get mine for $50(Im sure it will go down to about that much during the christmas season). and I dont see R5 dropping price any time soon.

The R5 also has a bottom fan slot. And all the hdd cages will be removed.

Still, s350 is better airflow more direct, like the ft05/ft04/ft02

won't the h105 block fan usage in the front?

That's the only place to mount it on the s340, which I think is stupid of nzxt

No the difference between front and top Mont is minimal. CPU will be slightly cooler, GPU slightly warmer

I loved that you used someone's concept of an H340 instead of an actual S340.
