Go to solution Solved by Guest,
Swapped a few things.

Better SSD, PSU and a nicer case (imo).

Swapped the board for something that isn't ASRock.

Also changed the GPU to the Gigabyte version.

Things I would change:

- Get the Windforce 3x (Not G1 gaming), it's better and cheaper

- Get the 4690k, it's better all around so no point in not taking it

- Swap out the SSD for a better one, the V300 sucks ass right now. Sandisk Extreme, Intel 730, 840EVO and MX100 are all good

- Get the Antec Neo Eco 520W instead. It's a rebranded Seasonic M12II so it's damn good

RIG: I7-4790k @ 4.5GHz | MSI Z97S SLI Plus | 12GB Geil Dragon RAM 1333MHz | Gigabyte G1 Gaming GTX 970 (1550MHz core/7800MHz memory) @ +18mV(Maxed out at 1650/7800 so far) | Corsair RM750 | Samsung 840 EVO 120GB, 1TB Seagate Barracuda | Fractal Design Arc Midi R2 (Closed) | Sound Blaster Z                                                                                                                        Getting: Noctua NH-D15 | Possible 250GB Samsung 850 Evo                                                                                        Need a console killer that actually shits on every console? Here you go (No MIR/Promo)

This is why you should not get an FX CPU for ANY scenario other than rendering on a budget http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/286142-fx-8350-r9-290-psu-requirements/?p=3892901 http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/266481-an-issue-with-people-bashing-the-fx-cpus/?p=3620861

Any particular reason you are buying the DDR3-1866 memory over DDR3-1600?

Also that SSD is trash after the company pulled a bait and switch with the NAND controller.

I would suggest a Crucial or Samsung 128GB SSD.

900 pounds is not a strict budget.

Everything is fine. Beware for the mouse though,it's bad. I have it, it malfuctioned after 1 week and now it completely broke after 3 months.Keyboard is nice.

Why would you want slower Ram ? I would say 1866MHz as a minimum.

because price vs performance doesnt worth it. gaming with ddr3-1666 is good enough.

may your framerates be high and your temperatures be low. #pcmr

Strict doesn't really mean low, it means unbending.

Do not  as I  do, and  not  as I say. Instead do as you may..

The price is virtually identical, even 2400 can be had for like... 5 bucks more.

Yeah, but 60% of the time I can find 1866/2166 for cheaper than the cheapest decent 1666.

Arma 3 , Battlefield 4, Far Cry 3 or 4 (If you haven't played FC3 yet go for it, it's cheaper and the story is better imo), Bioshock Infinite, Skyrim (with visual mods), Metro Last Light, Metro 2033 Redux. Other great games: Xcom Enemy Unknown +Enemy Within DLC, Hotline Miami, Intruder (Pc exclusive), Space Engineers, Red Orchestra 2, Payday 2 and Uplink (if you are into hacking games).

As the steam sales are almost there I suggest you to buy one of those games and then stick with it until the steam sales are here. If you don't want to wait, why not use g2a.com? When using the code "FRAGS" in the checkout you get additional 3% off the price.

Hope I could help you out. Cheers

The FPS gain is negligible with faster RAM, so if he could find 1600MHz for cheaper, I would get that.

I wasn't telling him what to do, just giving a suggestion.

There usually isn't that much of a price difference to justify going for slower Ram.
