I bought Logitech Z5500 from a friend.Having issues with my piece of shit mobo Gigabyte GA-Z87-HD3.Since it doesn't have proper coax or optical.Yes there is optional internal coax. Can't find the optional bracket which has coax and opt, that is near me.Yes i have ghetto version of the internal coax cable. It works somewhat.Bass sounds kinda weird.I don't know.Might as well buy a different soundcard. What is good for movies, music? budget under 90euros.Also does the long optical cable mess with the sound? max range 15 Meters.

If you're using optical then the cheapest one you can get (that has a optical output obviously), a ~£140 STX is going to be no different than a £10 sound card when you use optical. Fortunately you don't need to worry about the connector as that motherboard has PCIe and PCI connectors.

If you're not using optical then as was mentioned above, the best Xonar card you can get.

what the other guy said, just buy the cheapest xonar card.

now, for optical cable, optical uses light to transer data(sound in this case) , unless the cable is bad/damaged it could be as long as possible, it can't be a problem.
however, never buy cables that are to long, because it's no point and they are more expensive because you are paying for extra lenght you're using ;)
also, it's also harder to manage long cables

The cheaper card does not work for me.Here is post from the Xonar DG and digital sounds

http://arstechnica.com/civis/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=1209339

I was going to buy Xonar DX.I was thinking about that post about SPDIF/toslink,doesn't have enough bandwidth for raw digital.Or something like that. The card has to support Dolby digital and DTS.

Every post about these soundcards says different things.Anyone can break this thing down for me?
