You can still play games with a weak CPU and a good GPU, not the other way around though.

Weak CPU and strong GPU all the way.

Rather have a g3258 with a r9 280x than a i7 4790k with a gtx gt 610.

^ This. Try to balance them out as well as you can.

*stares at my signature* I know, I need a new GPU, but first I must get a better case and power supply then save for GPU even though games on medium is kind of disturbing.

I wouldn't be able to deal with either of the poisons that you listed.

 

If I had to choose one it would be Weak CPU and Powerful GPU.

i choosed ''both powaahh'' cause i believe a balanced build is better...but if i would have to really choose one i would go with a stronger CPU and a weaker GPU because it's always easier to upgrade the GPU and they turn obsolete much faster than a good CPU would...so in the long run i really think a better CPU is the way to go...it will allow to upgrade the GPU more down the road and that is very important for me (i don't buy motherboard CPU and RAM combos that often i like them to last a while.)
