Posted December 3, 2014 I've been thinking that I would pick up an asus strix 980, because it seemed to perform well, keep cool and quiet, and I liked the look of the card, but I've been looking at benchmarks for the EVGA classified 980, and it seems to perform much better. Is there actually a large performance increase, or were the benchmarks just not completely accurate? Which of these cards would you guys pick and why? But I think it is save to say if you are a normal user a Strix or any 'normal' GPU will do. Cherry picked ones are really something you should actively work with and push em beyond normal limits. I start asking myself if we´ll see custom design of the GM200 when it comes out... because if nVidia names it Titan II or so, chances are that they won´t allow custom desgin just like they did with the original Titan back then . Posted December 4, 2014 Are you planning to do some heavy overclocking and water cooling? If the answer to the question is no, then just get the ASUS GTX 980 STRIX http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00O4S9NY8. The EVGA Classified is an AWESOME card but there is absolutely no point in paying the crazy price premium for all of the features if you don't plan to do some serious OC'ing and put that card under some hydro. After all, those are the reasons to buy the Classy.
