Most people say 8 hours minimum stress test. I personally do between 4-6.

74C is safe in stress tests/gaming

 

Also I would download the Aida64 Extreme trial then run the CPU stability test for 12 hours. 12 hours is enough to determine daily use but 24 hours is really the best option. The chances of an OC failing after 24 hours are quite small

I typically aim for max temp of no more than 83ish degrees while doing a burn test of some sort.. Gives me enough temps headroom to be safe when doing anything that isn't a burn test but keep in mind I am not a pro overclocker but that does sound like a good chip, maybe you can hit 4.8? That'd be cool

I tried to get 4.7GHz stable but I couldn't at 1.28 volts and that's my comfort zone :(

Sh shh shhh. You are pefectly fine up until 1.3v lol. If you can't get it there abandon ship. Every cpu just has a wall, the few I have played with have excellent voltages on the low end, and then out of nowhere just to get 100mhz I need .08V added.

I may have to reseat my cpu cooler, there is 10 Degrees of a difference between cpu 1 and 2 :/

I do 30 minutes and then play games for an hour or so, i then do this a few times a week and keep an eye on my temperatures.

I want to know how long should I run OCCT for to know if my system is stable.

So far I got my i5 4690k at 4.6GHz with 1.23 volts.

Also is 74 Degrees Celsius (Maximum) safe? I'm really worried that it's not :(

Yes you are in the safe zone....but you are not finished getting a stable OC. You now need to use you most demanding programs and games and run them to see if you are still stable. 

 

You can also lower the temperature by using manual offset CPU/core voltage rather than manual direct or auto.

A water-cooled mid-tier gaming PC.

I'm running Aida64 right now and an hour in it hasn't blue screened or shutdown yet. I think it's stable but I'm gonna leave it on longer

I used to think that way too and i still needed to add .020v for a stable 4.7Ghz OC from 1.150v in order to launch Call of Duty Ghosts....and yes i know it is badly ported but you won't know how programs react until you run them.

10C leadout isn't unheard of, although 74C does seem a bit toasty for 1.23v if the memory of my 4690k's serves me correctly. What cooler/TIM are you using?

I'm using a Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo and the thermal paste that it came with it. Keep in mind that 74C is the maximum and not the average

Those results sound in-line the a 212 :D

You may be able to squeeze a few more C's out of it by using an additional fan for push/pull. I lost 4C by strapping another RPM/CFM matched fan to the one I had, although it was in a poorly ventilated case and it was on a FX-4100 that ran fairly hot OC'd to begin with. But, for $5-15 it's not a bad option. I've never used included TIM on any heatsink so I can't speak to the quality of the stuff, if you're going to be remounting often pick up a tube of PK-3, NT-H1, or MX-4.
