As the title states. Is it better than DX11? Does it only benefit AMD's APU chips? I'm just curious to know and I'm sure someone who has done hours of research about this is lurking around. Thanks ahead of time!

It benefits low end CPUs and generally CPU limited scenarios, like Star Citizen. Once DX12 is released, I think there will be no point to Mantle.

Mantle in my knowledge exist to take away cpu overhead by allowing devs to the metal access. Thus it shows its true benefit in APUs and low performance cpus or games that utilise lots of CPU processes

not many games use it, and directx12 will render mantle useless.

This is possible but it did the job of kicking M$'s ass into gear.

BF4 Mantle is half assed and towards the end of the maps (online) you run out of VRAM due to a memory leak and you drop FPS.

true, i remember having this problem back in the day playing it with my HD7950 which had 3GB of VRAM and i was capping out and stuttering so i was forced to use directx11...i thought they've would have fixed it since then? OMG...

It would seem they havent. I would often get 5-10fps towards the end of a game as soon as the vram leak gets critical. So I stick to DX11 :D

Hope not, as it would be cool to see it ported to Linux and used as a way to develop games for Steam OS so gamers can finally rid themselves of the Microsoft parasite.
