So its rumoured to come in Feb. 2015 as what i have read and they say its gonna be "50%" faster then then current fastest single GPU.

so my qeustion worth waiting or just buy a 970/980 around xmas. also any idea what the price will be? i know nothing is confirmed but what do you think its gonna be? because if it will be around 50% faster then the 980 think it also will cost allot more then then 980? or we see a price drop in the 980 and then the 980(Ti?) will be around 600-700$?

thanks for helping me out i know its all rumours but im still exicited (:

With the way the 980 is priced, the 980 Ti, Titan Black II, whatever they're calling it may be their ticket to charging $1,000 for it and leaving the 980's price as is.

I read couple of rumors about a new GPU from nvidia to compete with the 390x .. should be around the corner I guess .. maybe by March or April?

So a GPU to compete with another GPU that's not even out yet?

Just get a 970, if you need more power I'm pretty sure SLI'ing with a 2nd 970 will be more than enough and most likely cheaper if the new GTX "money burner" is $1000+ again.

Speculations .. the same thing that happened with the 780 / 290 and then the 290x / 780ti

Unless the 390X has a significantly lower TDP than it's predecessor I doubt it will be any match. Or maybe it'll be better in price/performance..

Time will tell.

  • 4 weeks later...

Here is what I expect would happen:

Jan-Feb - GTX 960

Apr-Jun - GTX 980 Ti

Oct-Dec - Titan II

Besides from what I gather from rumors is that the GTX 960 will be based on the GM206 and GTX 980 Ti and Titan II on the GM200. And the GTX 980 Ti would be a cut down version of the Titan II. The GTX 980 Ti would be priced at around 650-750 USD and the Titan II at around 1000 USD. The Titan II may have a 50% boost over the GTX 980, but I doubt the GTX 980 Ti would have that much of a boost. Most probably all these GPUs are going to be on the 28nm process and Nvidia would shift to 16nm in 2016.

Just know that all of this is only speculation based on rumors, who knows how things are actually going to turn out.

Nah, the 980ti wouldn't have 50% more power...maybe their upcoming Titan. Either way hearing about this always makes me want to upgrade xD Gonna be getting a 980 here...I just know there's gonna be like a new card with 6gb vram I'm gonna punch myself for not getting.

I have a feeling there isn't going to be a 980 Ti. The current 980 chip is already a full fledged die. Next will be Titan II, then 1000 series on 16nm.

Yup whats coming is the transition from 600 series to 700 series all over again. Top card was 680, then came Titan then new series. Imo there will be NO 980 Ti. What's coming next is

960 -> Titan II -> 1000 series on 16nm

There won't be a 980 Ti, unless Nvidia breaks it's naming scheme. The "Ti" has always meant that it was the fully unlocked version of the GPU. However, all cores on the 980 are already unlocked.

The GM200 chip will most likely first be introduced as the Titan 2. Then perhaps it will be in the 1080. But either way, I seriosly doubt that it will show a 50% improvement in performance.
