They are the same, it's just the 4690s base clock is a bit higher.

Posted December 1, 2014 On Newegg right now there's a discount on the 4690k that makes it cheaper than the 4690. If you're willing to overclock, it's well worth the price. It's probably also worth the price if he doesn't want to overclock at $10 more for +200Mhz vs the 4590. Why the i5 over the FX-8350?
 Posted December 1, 2014 It's probably also worth the price if he doesn't want to overclock at $10 more for +200Mhz vs the 4590.I was talking about getting a 4690k if he is willing to do a little overclocking. If not, just get the 4690. Posted December 1, 2014 I was talking about getting a 4690k if he is willing to do a little overclocking. If not, just get the 4690. The 4690k is $10 cheaper than the 4690 right now in the US and will run the stock speed at a lower temperature most likely, since it's a better binned chip than the regular 4690. Posted December 1, 2014 The 4690k is $10 cheaper than the 4690 right now in the US.Makes sense. If the 4690k is cheaper than the 4690, buy it. If you are willing to overclock, buy it. Otherwise, you're better off with a 4690. Posted December 1, 2014 Get the 4460 its only 300MHz slower than the 4690 and cost $50 less PC is Intel Core i5 6400, GIgabyte H170 Gaming 3, Corsair Vengeance LPX 2x4GB 2400Mhz ,Sandisk Ultra Plus 128GB, WD Blue 1TB, NZXT S340, ASUS Geforce GTX 960. Fractal Design Tesla R2 650W. http://au.pcpartpicker.com/p/793XNG. Graphics card choices don't always have to be dictated on performance. If you want the game stream and power consumption of the GTX 970 get that. If you want raw performance of the R9 390 get that. In the end we are all gamers, so what if your buddy gets an extra 5 fps? Posted December 1, 2014 Get the 4460 its only 300MHz slower than the 4690 and cost $50 less my thought is this, if u never overclock on an i5 or i7 pick the cheapest one, a few mhz is not a big deal. Posted December 1, 2014 I second the 4460 suggestion. The difference is not high enough to justify the jump in pricei agree. the 4690 should be 15$ more than the 4590 which in turn should be another 15$ more than the 4460... if the difference is more than that the cost largely outwheight the benefits. | CPU: Core i7-8700K @ 4.89ghz - 1.21v | Motherboard: Asus ROG STRIX Z370-E GAMING | CPU Cooler: Corsair H100i V2 | | GPU: MSI RTX 3080Ti Ventus 3X OC | RAM: 32GB T-Force Delta RGB 3066mhz | | Displays: Acer Predator XB270HU 1440p Gsync 144hz IPS Gaming monitor | Oculus Quest 2 VR
