Intell SSD

Just got me a brand new 240GB Intel 530 series SSD. 
Not sure if I made the connection to the wrong plug but for some reason it is not showing up in my computer.. HALP

Is the SATA data cable plugged in? Is the SATA data cable plugged into the motherboard? Is the SATA power connector plugged in? Is the SATA power connector plugged into the power supply? 

 

Check these things first.

You have to format it, create a partition, and assign a letter.

How do I format/create a partition/assign a letter?

control panel-->system and such-->administrative tools-->computer management-->storage-->disk management

There you find your SSD (disk0, or 1 or whatever), but if you get there, you should get a pop-up guiding you through further.

or just run-->diskmgmt.msc

or just windows key+x -->d on win 8

You will see a page like this
 

 

Only for the SSD it will say "Unallocated Space". Just double click (or right-click, format) and follow the wizard.

You should be able to create a new partition by selecting the unallocated drive that extra 223.57GB is your intel 530 ssd.Right click on it and select create a simple volume then...next...next...done...
