For future reference newegg has great pictures and allows you to mouse over the pic and look at the board itself. Doing that you can find any plug and verify just about anything you could need to know. Not trying to be mean but while it is nice having someone to ask sometimes it just takes a little bit of effort and a few moments of your time to find the answer. Generally if you can't find it in 10 minutes or research (that includes google time) then ask us and anyone would be happy to help.

Finding the M5A97 Evo R2.0 is hard here in the states.....

You either get the M5A99FX that has a 6+2 or a M5A97 R2.0 that has 4+2.

 Intel it is then :)

Doesn't he need to update the bios before he can use the CPU?

Remember a wise man once said, "You'll most likely hear/see more bad reviews from products than good, because if they get a good product, they won't bother to write a review, and if they got a bad product, they'll complain about the product" ~ SoftenButterCream

8 phase PWM on the specs often means a 4 phase driver with doublers. Doublers don't increase the switching speed so voltage stability is lower than with an 8 phase.

The amount this matters to anyone who's not doing liquid nitrogen overclocking is probably negligible. Actual MOSFET quality is more important.

Does that mean it works out of the box?

you go with an FX-6300 or FX-83XX ? if so yes it will work out of the box perfectly.

My dad got me a fx8320

that's great...if you have the correct cooling for the CPU the UD3P motherboard can sustain 1.45v overclocks easily...have fun!
