New Gaming & Video/Photo Editing Rig - Need Advice.

soupistasty5

Fellow Forum Members,

I am in the process of putting together my first ever pc build, thanks in large part to Linus' youtube channels. So huge thanks to Linus and Slick, don't ever doubt your influence via the Interwebs (lol, little 'LinusTechTips inside joke').

My useage: intensive gaming at ultra resolutions, 2560x1440, with one 27" monitor; and lots of video/picture editing.

Here is the configuration I am thinking of, and have started to piece together, * indicates items that I have already picked up:

Mobo: *Gigabyte X79 G1.Assassin2, socket 2011.*

CPU: *3930k, lightly overclocked to 4.2-4.4 GHz.*

Boot/few games: *pair of Samsung 840 Pro 128Mb, in raid 0.*

Storage: *4 x Seagate Barracuda 3 TB hard drives in raid 10.*

Sound card: Asus Essence STX or if the $$ is availiable, the Asus Essence One.

GPU: *MSI GTX 680 Lightning, older version with the 3x over-volting enabled.*

Cooling: *Corsair H100.*

Ram: *Corsair Vengence LP, 4 x 8 Gb.*

Case: Fractal Define XL R2.

Power Supply: Seasonic SS-760XP, platinum OR Silverstone Strider Gold SST-ST65F-G 650w (not planning on ever doing SLI).

Monitor: Dell U2713 (one of the best, single monitor solutions for a pc doing double duty as a gaming/editing rig), currently using hdmi out to my Panasonic plasma TV.

Audio: Speakers: *AudioEngine2's with one 12" subwoofer, a REL 401E.*

Headphones: *Sennheiser HD650's.*

I would appreciate any suggestions that all you guys/gals out there might have. If you have expertise or work in the computer business, mention that as well.

Thanks in advance, from frozen Winnipeg.

Seems like a pretty decent build. You can upgrade to an H100i :)
