Hello anyone and everyone

i want to know if 4K is worth the cash, i'm looking to upgrade my entire setup (Monitors and Hardware) and my budget is gonna be High, i just want to know is 4k worth the money over getting something like the ROG Swift

i'm upgrading to Dual 970's and i'll probably move to X99 or just get an i7 since i've been doing a lot editing and rendering lately so the i5 is not really fulfilling my needs

Honestly, 4k isn't a good decision for this time yet. Only use it if you really need those pixels for stuff like editing. It's better to go for something like widescreen, 1440p, 120Hz/144HZ or G-sync.

Yes, but currently 1440p gives the best all around experience with greater support and no scaling issues

however it will get better, and gaming in 4k is utterly beautiful

Worth is up to the individual. Personally, not interested since the more affordable 4k monitors are TN and that's bad when you deal with colors. Not a hardcore PC gamer so my validations are different than others who trip balls over 4k 120hz+ 1ms displays. I think 4K will be worth it to general population once a single GPU can max out settings at 4k and maintain at least 60FPS stable. Till then, nothing touches 4K without going multi GPU.

is the scaling really that bad O.o?

Father brought one for photo editing. it is horrid, he went back to 1440p, that and his 7850 was really struggling to drive so many pixels. He then brought a 970 so its more fluid

It depends on your needs,

If you need the room and pixels, such as for coding (I tend to need a lot of space for coding.) and using other programs that require lots of complex windows open like some video editing software, then yes, go ahead. You can do probably very light gaming with 4K right now, if you get a 4K monitor at this point in time it probably means your not a hardcore gamer and just need the space (and some people just like the look of 4K :P).

Intel i5-6600k (Cooled by a 212 evo) - Asus Z170-A - Asus Dual OC GTX 1060 - NZXT S340 - WD 1TB (Getting SSD this month, hopefully) - 8GB DDR4-2400

LG G4 - Asus Zenwatch 2

Also if they fix the scaling it should drive prices down as more people buy 4k monitors. I am waiting for scaling to be fixed before I buy new monitors.

Okay, so do games look good on a 4K Display? Because i have 2 20 inch side monitors for web browsing and editing, then the 4K Monitor should be good for just gaming.

Yes games look amazing in 4k (note some game interfaces will be very small, but MOST support 4k just fine)
