Hello! My name is Ps300300 and I am thinking of purchasing a GTX 970 from the USA when I go there next week.

If you think this is a good decision (if not plz tell me why, im only a casual gamer btw), I am not 100% sure which brand to go with.

Either EVGA, ASUS, MSI or the REFERENCE card. (The ASUS is out of stock so probably cant get it :(  and also with the reference card, id just like to know if i should wait for it or not bother and go for one of the others) .

I like the look of the REFERENCE card the best, just not sure about its sound and performance compared to the other cards. (Is the REFERENCE card metal?)

Thanks for your help in advanced,

Ps300300

other cards OC better, than the reference card. But me myself would get a reference as i think they look good, but if you want to OC get the other cards.

Main PC: Core i5 4670 | MSI Mpower Max z87 | G.Skill Ripjaws 2x4gb | Stock intel cooler | PNY GTX 770 2gb (hoping to upgrade) | Seagate 1tb 7200rpm | Corsair RM850 | Corsair Carbide Air 540 | PCCG custom sleeved black/yellow extensions | Corsair K70 Cherry MX Blue | Corsair M45 |

Phone: LG Nexus 5 | Headphones: Audio Technica ATH-PDG1, Shure SRH440 | Laptop: Asus 303la (i5 model, 1600x900 res) | Motorbikes: 2004 Sherco 290i, 2013 Husqvarna CR125 | Xbox one

I wouldn't buy that reference card. It's shady. No info on it or anything. Buy the MSi or EVGA. Those are the ones I would go with. EVGA had some problems with their coolers though, last I heard.

Someone told Luke and Linus at CES 2017 to "Unban the legend known as Jerakl" and that's about all I've got going for me. (It didn't work)

I wouldn't get a reference, the cooler is pretty bad and it's loud

I know this isn't one of your options but if I were you I would go for the gigabyte windforce as it has 3 fans and has the lowest temps.

Its when dragons have so much sex that the cpu cant handle it

It's not bad, or loud, just not near as good as other solutions unless you need to exhaust the hot air for some reason.

But it looks DAMN sexy

They do look sexy inded, but my reference cards have to be super loud to get good temps :/

Thank you for all the replies :)
I may cross the reference card off the list seeing as I have no idea when it may be in stock.

Yes I looked into the gigabyte but sadly I dont think it can fit in my case :(

Other than those now I just need to choose between EVGA, ASUS and MSI...

Any ideas?

Well my second choose if the gigabyte didnt fit in my case (but lucky it does) was the ASUS card had the best temp to loudness as well as the best performance ratio just have a look at the benchmarks for them all, that should help you decide :)

Here's a page that compares the Asus and the MSI, as well as the Gigabyte which you said didn't fit your case it ways up the pros and cons nicely.

Ok everybody, I think I might just go with this

 http://www.bestbuy.com/site/nvidia-geforce-gtx-970-4gb-gddr5-pci-express-3-0-graphics-card-silver-black/9855169.p?id=1219441201895&skuId=9855169

Its the REFERENCE btw.

Just confirming there are not too many disadvantages to it compared to other third party cards.

If you don't mind paying just a bit more for better cooling and overclocking capability and some extra feature get the non reference card. I'm going to buy the 970 G1 Windforce when i got the chance because of it amazing cooler and great looking led logo and backplate but that is just my preference.
