It's only a slight indent, it should be fine.

Hes asking if the gpu will touch the motherboard if it's longer than the motherboard tray indent.

Hey

 

I will more than likely be getting the Fractal Design Define R5 at Black Friday.

However, i've noticed one small detail, the motherboard sits slightly lower/deeper than the rest of the case.

I am worried, that if i have a GPU long enough, the bottom part near the PCI Express connection, will touch the case and cause it to not sit in it the right way.

 

Has Fractal thought about it, and fixed it so no graphics card will touch the side if long enough?

At about 7:42 you can see how close the cooler/pcb of the graphics card is close to the motherboard, and i'm just thinking that if the thing with the grommits(spelling) comes further out that the motherboard, it's going to touch each other.

no that should be fine, considering its fractal im sure they have seen that, its not engraved as much as the pci-e slot so it should be fine for gpus with some length

Yea, would just be a shame if I had to get a new graphics card because of the case.

Yes, i think its called motherboard tray - so what I actually ment was to the right of where the motherboard sits on the motherboard tray - thanks!

It doesn't look that "slight" on video though, and looks like its much. I mean, the clearance between the back of the graphics card and the very front of the motherboard is not that much anyways.

 

But it sounds like from the two of you so far, that it wouldn't hit it with longer graphics cards, so I'm going to give it a try!

Just looking at it, I can't imagine that it would be an issue.

Also, the indent doesn't look any larger than the bump on the H440, and I've never heard of any gpu-motherboard tray issues in an h440.

I didn't know there was one too in the H440, but now I'm going to give the R5 a try.

It will be fine. The indent is less than the height of the graphics card above the motherboard tray, so it should fit with no issues.
