air compressor sound?

so instead of wasting 20 bucks each time i want to clean dust off my pc and other things i bought a small 3 gallon air compressor, i followed all instructions (i have used industrial compressors in my schools auto and other shop classes). i set it all up and for the first time i turned it on it made the worst sound from the motor, it really scared the shit out of me thinking it was going to blow up. i turned it on and off couple times and have come to the realization that the screeching sound it makes is normal. my question is do you guys have a similar sound from your (if you own one) compressors. 

Space Journal #1: So Apparently i  was dropped on the moon like i'm a mars rover, in a matter of hours i have found the transformers on the dark side of the moon. Turns out its not that dark since dem robots are filled with lights, i waved hi to the Russians on the space station, turns out all those stories about space finding humans instead of the other way around is true(soviet Russia joke). They threw me some Heineken beer and I've been sitting staring at the people of this forum and earth since.

The only air compressors i'll ever purchase are from Craftsman.

I've got a 60 gallon compressor sitting in my garage that's been running for a solid 15 years, no problems.

It's loud as all get-out, but it doesn't have a particularly horrible sound.

Shouldn't hear anything other than the motor running. Might have a bad one.

 

I use a 10gal at the shop and have a large 100gal one at home. Makes cleaning computers much easier.

I've never heard a screeching sound from the motor, all I've heard was a RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR as it's running and a RRRR HISSS at the end of the compressing session.

 

 

The only air compressors i'll ever purchase are from Craftsman.

I've got a 60 gallon compressor sitting in my garage that's been running for a solid 15 years, no problems.

my sound is a loud screaching type sound. there are good sounds like a hot rod running. but mine is like a vespa running with a bad exhaust pipe. its like the RRRRRRRRRRRRRR but much more annoying like an asian girl moaning in porn. like a squeaky kind of sound.

If it was a cheap one, I wouldn't be surprised, but I've been used to much bigger air compressors, so Idk.

It's probably a cheap unit, I have a huge dual-tank Rigid air compressor that my dad uses. 

found the perfect video. and it is a cheap one i dont really need it for anything other than air brushing stuff. i have the 3 gallon version of this.

Small air compressors tend to make excessive noise. I would say don't worry about it and it's normal. My dad owns several air compressors and the smalls ones make louder and higher pitches noises, and our large when is much quieter and makes  a more stable noise.

That's fine, the subway trains always sound like that when they make a station stop and recharge the brake pipe.

i havent been in the subways regularly enough to experience that sound. dammit i miss the city, im stuck in this dull suburban wasteland just east of it

A subway train holds 110lbs of air pressure in the brake pipe, which is reserved for emergencies. In case of an emergency brake application, the air will dump into the brake cylinder.

i live in LI. and the last time i was in the subway was over the summer. i quite like the beeps. i used to be a regular rider around 2002-2005 and the subways were shit back then. didnt even have the radio voice of a guy say "stand clear of the closing doors please"

The NTT trains are bullshit now. They're making the subway bland, the SMEE fleet has character to it.
