swap the 4770k for a 4790k. much better overclocking

also. you can get a much cheaper hdd for like 2-3 tb seagate's baracuda are quite decent

Get cheaper ram (http://pcpartpicker.com/part/kingston-memory-hx316c9sr8 you could even get 2 of these and have 16gb for the same price ), get a 2tb HDD, change the case you, could get the r5. Also you could get the 4790k. That's waht I would change.

1) You're overpaying for pretty much everything. You're overpaying for ram, you're overpaying for your SSD, you're overpaying for your HDD (you don't need a black drive if its your secondary), you're WAAAAAY overpaying for your MoBo, and you're also WAAAY overpaying for your PSU.

2) If you actually spend your money wisely, you can get WAY better performance for the price. You can easily go X99 for that price if you don't obsess over flashy components. Here, try this build instead:

It's better or equal in every respect, and you can slap in a second GTX 970 at will if you like. Plus, it's way cheaper, almost to the point where if you wanted to go without some things (SSD or Liquid cooling) you could go ahead and buy an SLI 970 setup for the same price as yours! Price to performance is king here.

Keep in mind I only did this because you already had an i7 build to start with, so I was assuming this was more than just a gaming rig. If it's just gaming, you can easily get away with an overclocked air cooled i5 build and save a boatload of cash.

It all looks good but that case is ugly. Its just my personal opinion.

i really like the scout II, i think its a beautiful case :)

i went for the 4770k .. well because its more mainstream :P

Your RAM is overkill.

What exactly do you plan on doing with it? OC?

how exactly is my ram overkill? well 2133mhz is already an OC

how am i overpaying for my SSD? SLI is a confirmation so i went and got an 850w (besides jonnyguru gave it an 9.9/10 so its gotta be good) well what the actual benefit of an x99 compared to a Z97 in the "gaming world"? alright so ill ditch the WD Black and go for a seagate. i really like the look of the dominator plats tho (overkill or not i have to like the look of my rig aswell right?)

EDIT: oh and the Mobo is €180 :P

X99 in a Gaming rig? None. If you're making a gaming only rig, then the i7 you started with was overkill to begin with. The GTX 970 is power efficient enough to run in SLI with a PSU even as low as 600W. You don't need to spend so much cash on it when a cheaper one will do the same job and you'll see no difference. If you like the look of the dominator plats, well firstly they run at a higher voltage so they're actually inferior performing parts (or regular performing parts with a factory overclock, depending on your view) that have a very high pricetag. You're basically paying around $400 in that first build of yours for "looks" and "preference." If you're okay with that, then it's fine. I just wanted you to realize just how much money you're spending on looks and how average performance you're really getting.

If you REALLY want a pure gaming rig for that price, then THIS is what you want:

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant

You can trade out the CPU Cooler for the Nepton in my X99 build I posted earlier, but it's overkill for just an i5. There's room in the budget, but it's not necessary IMO.

edit: Oh, and you're overpaying for your SSD because you're buying a name brand that has similar performance to an OEM (crucial actually makes the stuff and is not a rebrander). It's extremely similar performance, but it comes with a significant price bump. Not worth it. Just compare the prices to the parts in this build versus the parts in your build, and you'll see how much money you wasted on each. Except for the CPU/Cooler (your i7 and cooler were overkill anyway), they all perform identically or better for way less, part for part, and have the same functionality.

Again i explained why i got the 850w :) the only component i bought for "looks" was the Dominator Platinums. i thought about that i5 but theres somthing inside of me telling me that i will benefit from hyperthreading in the future (i avoided saying "future proofing" because i hate that term) since im starting to get into programming and some type of editing. the  NZXT S340 is just as expensive as the Scout II here so ill still stick with that (why does no on like the Scout II?)

EDIT: Also got the SSD for €100 so it was cheaper and BTW, i can get that RAM for €100 :)

Your explanation makes no sense. It's like buying 5 Christmas tree stands even though you only have one tree. Yes, you COULD use more of them, but you're not. It's wasted money for additional potential you're never going to use. It's pointless.

Case choice is largely preference, and IMO that case is ugly. That's all there is to it. If you like it, go for it.

As for "future proofing," I really doubt the i5 will ever struggle in games as long as the current gen (next-gen my ass) consoles are around. They only have 4 cores that can be dedicated to gaming, and the i5 is WAAAAAY more powerful than them. No game will require more than 4 cores for the foreseeable future, even in several years time. The CPU is not the limiting factor, and the i7 doesn't even give you increased core performance, just more multi-threaded performance. It is, again, performance in a direction you'll never use in gaming. You won't notice it. You WILL notice the second GTX 970 though, provided you're doing something like 4K gaming. If you're just gaming on 1080p or even 1440p, a single GTX 970 will do the job and you can save your cash.

to use your analogy yeah i am buying 5 stands but im buying them knowing i could potentially need 4 more trees. (wether or not i actually will i guess is a different story) IMO the scout II looks better than the NZXT (NOT saying its ugly) besides here im paying €275 for the i5 and €290 for the i7.. isnt the i7 INC a better choice?

Don't get he i7-4770k, get the i7-4790k. All you need is an i7-4790k for gaming, its overkill really as an i5 = i7 in games when they are at the same speed.  Don't go X99 or i7-5820k.  Its not meant for gaming, and you will get better performance for less money on Z97 with an i7-4790k.

I recommend going for a Phanteks Enthoo Pro or Enthoo Luxe.  Easily the best cases at their respected price points.

That RAM is a serious waste unless you really have a ton of money to spend.  Its just a brand name and aesthetics.  You're going to be just fine going with any other RAM with the same specs that isn't dominator platinums, its just criminal how much you're spending on RAM.

Same goes for SSD.  For 240GB you should be spending at most $100.

Also HDD, don't get a WD Black.  Get a WD Caviar Blue or Seagate Barracuda, whichever is less expensive.  They are both excellent hard drives, and much better value.  Black series is really for professional use.

Lastly, the H100i.  Avoid it.  It is a good CPU Cooler when it works, but it is not guaranteed to work out of the box without modifications.  The pump is very noisy, and the corsair link software is buggy.  There are way too many complaints about this AIO for me to recommend it to anyone.  Go for the Cooler Master Nepton 240M, Cooler Master Nepton 280L, Cooler Master Seidon 240M, Corsair H105, Corsair H110, Swiftech H220X, H240X or NZXT X61.

Wow, yeah if they're THAT close then do it. I've been operating under the idea that you were in the US and going by USD. All these price comparisons go out the window when you change the prices. I have no idea what things cost locally for you. Here in the US, it's a $210 for the i5-4690k and $300 for the i7-4790k, and the i7 doesn't actually do anything better than the i5 in any game. That's a massive difference for no benefit.

i satetd before that im not paying €164 for the ram.. its more like €100 so barely more expensive than what you guys are suggesting.same with the SSD. i went with the Black becasue 1. longest warranty and 2. well i read what was written on their sight. i had a thread a while back and there were a lot of people reccomending it (that actually had it) than there were people telling me to avoid it.and not to sund like a spoiled asshole but... my dad is actually paying for the majority of it. i only paid for the case, PSU and (when i decide) the processor

Well, the CPU prices are not nearly that close. The price difference is actually very big. I left off the GPUs, Case, and PSU, but other than that this is what I would do:

The only real change in price was the overpricing of the 212 Evo, making water cooling look like a better option. The rest were all still around similar prices, or there were similar parts for similar prices. Also note that the Samsung 840 Evo series had a firmware problem, so it's best to avoid it. Any data that has been on it for a few months takes forever to read. We're talking like HDD speeds sometimes, and the 850 Evo is still overpriced

We're talking like HDD speeds sometimes, and the 850 Evo is still overpriced

huh i only found the i5 for €270. So the i5 is an option... if i do get the i5 i will also have some money left for the Corsair RGB K70 Blue switch
