Radiator Position, Air Pressure.

Go to solution Solved by Enderman,

Having more intake fans than exhaust fans will keep the air pressure positive, but only a bit of positive air pressure is needed to keep dust from coming in.

You are trying to keep dust from coming in through cracks, not trying to push air much air as possible out of those cracks.

By using exhaust fans, they assist the intake fans in moving more air through the case to keep temperatures lower.
Having a lot of positive air pressure will not help keep dust out any more than having a little positive air pressure.

Having a lot of positive air pressure will also make your temps higher, which you dont want.

In your case, I would put the radiator as exhaust on the top, then have intake fans all over the front.

Since the exhaust fans on the radiator will have more air restriction, the front fans will keep positive air pressure in your case even if the number of front and top fans are the same.

I'm geting a NZXT H440 case and I want to cool my CPU with the Tt Water 3.0 Performer http://www.thermaltake.com/products-model.aspx?id=C_00002063

Will it be more efficient to locate the radiator in push-pull configuration in the front or the back of the case? Also, should the cooler be exhausting or inputting air?

I want to establish positive air pressure in my case to reduce dust build up. If you are having more inputs than outputs, then you are forcing air to leave in every possible hole in the case. What I don't understand is why an exhaust fan is necessary if it is just reducing pressure in the case. Please explain this to me.

Thank you!

Thank you, very useful. I can't reply ATM, because this forum is broken today! Also, Endermen must be even scarier sounding with that sound system of yours, not to mention it feeling like you are sitting next to a TNT when to detonates!
