So this is it:

Case- NZXT H440 RED/BLACK

MOBO- ASUS ROG SERIES RAMPAGE IV FORMULA X79

CPU - CORE I7 4930K

GPU- 2x GTX970 STRIX

RAM- CORSAIR PC3-17066 2133MHZ 16GB VENGEANCE PRO RED CL11 (2X8GB) DDR3

SSD- SAMSUNG SERIES 840 EVO ULTRASLIM 120GB 2.5" SATA III

HDD- WESTERN DIGITAL CAVIAR BLACK 1TB 7200RPM 64MB SATA III 3.5

CPU COOLER- COOLER MASTER NEPTON 280L

Could use some help with a couple of things, is this cpu the right choice? i'm thinking of using corsair sp series fans to replace the stock ones on both the case and the cpu cooler, is that a good idea? does the sli bridge come with the mobo? what about the thermal compound does it come with the cooler?

thanks

X79 is an oldish platform now, and it has been replaced by X99. If you are just gaming then stick with Z97.

Remember to quote who you're replying to so we get a notification. :)

What would be the "and stuff" stuff. Unless you're doing heavy creative work, get an i7 4790k at most.

ok, so change the cpu, got it.

stuff is mostly normal use, some programming and image editing, but mostly games because i will most likely work on the laptop

games and stuff

What monitor are you using, and what is "stuff?"

If "stuff" doesn't include productivity stuff like rendering, then it's better to save cash and and just get a Z97/i5-4690K build. It'll perform identically in-game. You also don't need water cooling. A 212 Evo will do just fine for $30.

If you're using a 1080p 60hz panel, then you'll have too much horsepower and just be spinning your wheels. At 1080p 60hz, a single R9 290 will do the job for $250 and can max everything currently out there on ultra. Either you're thinking about 4k gaming, or you're wasting a lot of money.

Are aesthetics/coolness important to you? It looks like you're making decisions based upon how cool it would be to have something rather than price to performance. If you are, that's your preference, but if not I just wanted you to be aware that's what it looks like you're doing.

Yeah I would get a 4790k, G45 Gaming, 1866 kit of the same Corsair memory, and swap the drive from a Black to a Blue or Barracuda.

need, want, i'm aiming for overkill. also will use my 1080p tv untill i get a monitor

asthetics are important, it's gonna be my baby and i want to show it off, i know i could build a rig just as good for half the price but that's not the idea here, i wanna go full out crazy

Wow, I'm having massive deja vu. Let me copy and paste my response from the previous thread this exact same thing came up. Feel free to change the case to suit your tastes, but I already color matched the internal components. Basically, a single R9 290 can max everything out there at 1080p 60fps, so anything more than that is overkill. Feel free to increase the ram to 16GB, but 8 should be enough and there's extra DIMMs so you can just slap more in later if you find out you need more. The case is the only thing I'd suggest changing to suit your personal tastes, but I'd keep everything else the same.

Playing on a TV is really inadvisable because it introduces large amounts of input lag (the image takes time showing up on the screen and is delayed). But it's your call. You can easily get by with the following build. I even threw in an SSD, which is a luxury item that does not help at all with in-game performance of any kind, and only helps with boot/load times, and a secondary 3TB mass storage drive. I also threw in a PSU large enough to handle a second R9 290 if you upgrade your monitor down the road, and the board also handles crossfire so you can just slap that sucker in when you start doing high resolution gaming. It is a K-series CPU, aftermarket CPU cooler, and Z chipset MoBo, so this expects you to overclock or else you're wasting some cash and can just just a locked i5 + h97 mobo + stock cooler and save some cash. Anyway, here it is:

This will max out everything at 1080p 60fps, and should you decide to get a better monitor (not TV), you can slap in a second R9 290.

i know, but i'm in love with the 970 and this is with a future monitor in mind, i know the tv is not good to game but for the kind of gaming i do (casual, mostly rts) it doesnt bother me, and like i said, balls out crazy

so, about the psu and the fans?

Fans...they're fans and they work, not my particular area of expertise. The PSU would get you a lot of hate, if you can find an EVGA G2 750W as they're usually pretty cheap, get one of those instead.
