Between these two builds, which would be better for my purposes? (Gaming, Streaming, Recording, Editing, Rendering)

I want to play my games at ultra with a minimum of 60 fps while recording. (Minecraft, BF4, COD AW, GTA V, TF2... and such)

I thought this was already answered in the other thread?

Xeon build has slightly less CPU power, but noticeably more GPU power and will play games better at 1080p.

But I would not get the i7 build at this point, that PSU is absolute garbage. I wouldn't run a lightbulb off of it never mind an expensive system like that. You're also not doing yourself any favors by hopping on the STRIX bandwagon.

Xeon, but i'd either go with a single Sapphire/MSI/Gigabyte 290 or a Gigabyte/MSI 970.

the i7s psu is crap

i7 would be suitable for regular heavy load use,

xeons will do good , but they're meant for the constant & consistent non stop workstress without shutting down like in a server room situation.

But since you have a ton of other workloads such as rendering & streaming i'd suggest Xeon..

Details separate people.

Xeon, but i'd either go with a single 290 or a 970.

i7 build.not because the cpu, you have a locked cpu anyway and use a gpu so a xeon is better. but a single 970 is way better then 2 x 280

Two 280s will easily outperform a single 290 or 970 in games that support CF. Look up some 7970 Crossfire benchmarks. If a game doesn't support CF, one 280 on it's own will more then likely run it perfectly fine.

OP is running at 1080p btw

Oh, I'm not saying a 970/290 is better than two 280s, but I'd rather take the single more powerful card and add a second one down the road.

Not to mention the PSU he chose for his Xeon build won't power two 280s (well, he shouldn't be running two 280s at 600w).

Do you know if Advanced Warfare supports Cross-Fire?

If it doesn't yet, it will.

But youre still better off buying the single best card you can. Also, a 600w psu isn't enough for two GPUs (excluding 970s, 600w is fine for two 970s).

I didn't notice that, I suggested the build for him but looks like he changed out the power supply.

@socs1999 whatever PSU was in the build I gave you was there for a reason, an EVGA 600B will not be enough for the two 280s.

Why is that? What would be your recommendation for a 970?

The only reason Strix is popular is because everyone else likes it (bandwagon) and because of the useless silent fan feature. You won't even hear a reference leaf blower 290X when it's in your case.

The best 970 is  hands down the Gigabyte G1 Gaming (known on PCPartPicker as "WINDFORCE", without the X3), from the cooler to the GPU chip itself it's an overall better card.

Two 280s will still beat it though. Look up some 7970 CrossFire, they whoop ass.

That does not address the E3-1230 V3 that we are discussing in this thread.

So? This is information on xeon vs consumer CPUs. Most of the information in the video can be applied to any CPU.

The point of this video is to inform people on the similarities and differences of these two types of CPUs to help them understand which is right for them.

If you are expecting a perfect 1230 vs 4790 comparison then go look for one yourself, that is not what I was trying to shot the OP.

I looked it up, and they are vey power-hungry and produce a ton of heat. I'll get the 970, and maybe add another when I get some more cash.

What's your problem? Why are you being so arrogant to everybody?

I posted a video that the OP could learn something from.

You can post benchmarks if you want for all I care, but you can't tell me what I can and cannot post on this forum.
