Open back headphones. again

OK, ik ive made a few topiucs about this recently, but i keep changing my mind.

NOw i have a few options for open back headphones.

AKG k612 pro- 140$

HD558- 80$ (refurbished)

Pioneer SE-A1000- 60$

Philips SHP9500- 80$

Philips L1/28- 130$

now ik the AKG are best, but is it worth the extra money? Like the cheapest one is 60$, how does it sound compared to the AKG? Im trying to figure out if a higher price is justified.

Used mostly for gaming.

There's no sure way to answer this, the justifiable or not part. To some people, a $100 headphone is not justifiable compared to a $10 headphone, because they both produce sound, and that's what's matter to them.

To some other people, upgrading their headphone to a better one, by spending $1000 more is justifiable, for that extra bit of sound quality upgrade.

In other word, 'justifiable' is purely, and I do mean purely, subjective.

I like my Pioneer SE-A1000's more than the PC360 I had, soundwise, but of those I'd go for the AKG's cus I have heard lots of good things about them and I'm not that hot on the Sennheiser sound (which the Pioneer also has). no idea about the Philips ones though

Yes, but i dont even know the difference between the 140$ and 60$ one. Im not sure how big of a difference it is.

Right now i have v-moda crossfade LP, adn they are not the best, would like something more open and better, but Im not realy sure what is worth it and the differences between them. I also saw the ATH-700 from your profiule pic for 130$ used

That's part of the problem. Say I know the difference, because I've tried them both. How am I supposed to say it? The difference is THIS big, or THAT big. Doesn't explain much, right? It's next to impossible to quantify the differences to be justifiable or not.

The best people can do is to say which one is better, in their opinion.

$130 for a used AD700 is a crazy insane price. It was below $100. I got mine just around $100 mark, in May or something.

OK. I guess I'll spend the extra. Don't want something that I just want to change

I'd say ATH-AD500X for bang to your buck, but if you can get the K612 for free (christmas) then do that instead.

I'll see. My parents don't like the idea of new headphones ("your current ones are fine ") but they are the top thing on my list so I'll see
