You should never clone a HDD to an SSD.

You are going to have many more issues in the future that will not happen if you take the time and effort to do a proper clean install.

NEW PC build: Blank Heaven   minimalist white and black PC     Old S340 build log "White Heaven"        The "LIGHTCANON" flashlight build log        Project AntiRoll (prototype)        Custom speaker project

Biggest crock of misinformed knowledge I've seen today.

I don't mean to attack, sorry if it comes that way but...seriously... this gets my goat!

What "Many More Issues" did you face? Seeing as you didn't go into details either....

I've cloned (using this single program) about 30-35 drives to separate SSD's for work purposes.

There are plenty reasons to do this. Maybe not for YOU personally, but other people.

Partition Wizard (Free) can easily clone/copy a drive, has a wizard for the non-techies.

Select Source, Select Target, Apply. Wait until finished, Restart with the Target boot drive selected.

Easier than a New Install!

Does alignment for you, so no worries there. Even has other options available if you want them (resizing and such partitions)

Just because you find something not worth it, does not apply to all.

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz

Maybe the fact that every couple days I see someone come to the forum with SSD problems such as spiking disk usage, file corruptions, BSODs, random shutdowns, lag when starting up programs, etc...

And whenever I ask, almost always they have cloned their HDD to their new SSD.

So obviously there is a link between cloning HDDs to SSDs and having operationg system / program issues in the future, the kind that usually should happen 5-10 years after a clean install, not less than 12 months.

If you dont think there are any issues maybe its because all those SSDs you cloned to are not being used as operating system drives for a regular consumer? Or maybe you havent been using those SSDs for consumer programs?

idk, but I have certainly seen plenty of people have software problems because of cloning, so if you want a properly working OS and programs, don't clone a 3 year old install from a HDD. Especially when it is recommended to do a clean install every 1-2 years to keep windows working properly.
