Mozilla launches Oculus Rift-compatible website

Mozilla shows its interest in how virtual reality can augment the browsing experience, by making a small site that is Oculus Rift-compatible called MozVR.com. More precisely, it is Mozilla engineer Vladimir Vukićević who worked on the project. Vukićević was passioned about VR and how it can improve the web experience in some way, "Could we not expand the Web to include the immersive elements of a fully three-dimensional virtual universe," he said back when Oculus Rift early days.

The website MozVR.com (http://mozvr.com/) is just a proof-of-concept and experimentation. Currently, the demos showcased on the site are accessible through a Rift-compatible user interface, and includes a fly-through of British Columbia, a Leap Motion-compatible motion control demo, an art project, and a streaming version of Talk Chat Show Thing (a short show filmed for VR).

They said that they would need a 24K screen before you would be no longer able to decipher individual pixels, but they said they're working on eye tracking, as your peripheral vision isn't the best they would be able to get a resolution much lower than that, I think that resolution will probably about 4k.

What the hell is that icon?

Firefox Nightly.. Running a test build just because I feel like it. Quite a few things are broken on it, but is a little snappier than Waterfox. Basically a Mozilla made 64bit Waterfox. They made one back in like 2012, but quietly killed it.

I have a DK2,

 

it has too low of pixel density and gave me motion sickness.

 

and there isn't all that much to do on it atm, unless you really like getting the shit scared out of you in horror games

 

I've gotten maybe 10 hrs of use out of a 400 dollar purchase. granted it was bloody impressive at first.

I tried it at EGX for 30 seconds and I just want to experience more

Hm interesting, I was jusr basing my requirement on what users of DK2 said about 1080p.

Wouldnt a long use of VR (if motion sickness wasnt a factor) bad for your sight quality over time ?
