Hey linus community I was wondering if a DVI cable can support a 144hz monitor or will it be taken back to 60hz. Also if it does support that can a DVI to display port support 144hz.

Thanks for all your help

Wolffangs147

Edit: it needs to be DVI to display port

Its when dragons have so much sex that the cpu cant handle it

IF it's a dual link DVI cable (and if your monitor has a dual link dvi input, and if your gpu has a dual link dvi output), then yes.

If it's dual link then it will work. At 1080p for sure, but idk about 1440p.

Why do you need an adapter? (Are you sure both card/monitor support 144hz)?

DisplayPort doesn't support passive conversion to dual-link DVI (not enough pins to be electrically compatible) so you will need an active adapter to convert the signal.  Surely any 144Hz monitor will have a DisplayPort input though...?

My BenQ XL2411z does not.
