I've got a GTX 680 FTW LE+ (http://bit.ly/1EpMwyS) and under stress it gets to around 93C.

Is this dangerous? I assume that I am approaching the thermal limit of the card, or have I passed it already?

thats very high.. is that under full load? is it over clocked? your fans running properly? you have good airflow in the case over the GPU? Is your PC clean, no dust?

Well, re-apply thermal paste, rma it or bump up the fan speeds. I think it's some-what know that refrence designs are hot

You can set a temp target, if you don't want it to hit 93c you can set the temp target lower.  That being said the cooler on that card is capable of keeping it under 80c so I'm thinking that 1. you have poor case airflow 2. the card is dirty 3. your ambient temp is very high. It could be a mixture or all of those that would cause your temps to be so high.

That's under full load. Yes, it is overclocked, but not by much. I've increased the core clock by 30mhz, and I haven't touched any voltages. All fans/leafblowers function properly, I have good airflow in my case, and everything is squeaky clean.

Will the high temperature damage the card?

When you say under stress OP do you mean when you max it 100% gpu with stress test software it hits 93 degrees Celsius?

Also do what others have said in that look at basic things with the card in terms of maintenance and the condition of it.  Check to see if the fan on the card is working properly. Use some software to check the RPM of it.

very strange, my 680 to to about 80 under load, 80-89 is high, 90+ is worrying.

Lower temps= longer life of the card, so a 93 will likely reduce your cards life and make the chance of something going wrong more.

Max. temp said by Nvidia for GTX 680s is 98 degrees Celsius.

I don't really think that's the point. The point is...it probably shouldn't be running at that temp.

I was sharing information and I did make other posts talking of other things.  The information shared from Nvidia is relevant.  OP is 5 degrees Celsius off max temp and if the OP is running the card in a gpu stress test that maxes the card 100% well not many if any games are going to do that.  Also I did not say for the OP to not try to do other things to lower the temperature with the card.  Sheesh.
