If the price doesn't matter, I'd go for a HTC One + Vanilla Android. Nothing left to say :)

The Nexus 4 is great for its price, £240 and you get a quad-core Snapdragon.

OR:

Took the words right out of my mouth. Apparently the Google Edition HTC One launches on the 26th of June, and will be available on the USA Play Store.

HOWEVER, and there is a BIG HOWEVER, there are only going to be 50,000 phones available at launch, so you'll need to be quick as lightning to grab one.

I suggest staying up late and ordering one as soon as it launches.

This will be my first time owning a smartphone so pardon me for the noob question, how do I get a Vanilla Android?

1. You could buy a Phone directly from Google. You will get instant updates.

2. Buy any HTC One, root it and change the bootloader. Then you should be able to install a Vanilla like Android Version. (Wouldn't recommend this way)
